Attendance Department ill Rev. John L, Harrington, head of the Attendance Department, talks it over with a late student. 121 Sister Bernildis, S. N. D., girls' attendance supervisor, asks for the required written excuse for absence. C31 Sister Mary Magdalene, boys' attendance :s 16 V150 ssues class ad- mission slip. HE ATTENDANCE department of Central Catholic High School is under the supervision of the Reverend L. Harrington, assisted by Sister Mary Bernildis, S. N. D., and Sis- ter Mary Magdalene, O. S. U. Organized to keep a more accurate check on student attendance, this depart- ment, through the help of the super- Visors, has been of great assistance to the students in enabling them to solve their attendance problems. Sister Bernildis handles the attendance records of five hundred eighty-seven girls in room 208, in the Board Room, Sister Magdalene solves the attendance problems of eight hundred sixty-seven boys attending Central. Whenever a student has been absent from school, a Written excuse properly dated, explaining the reason for absence, and signed by parent or guardian, must be presented to the proper Attendance Supervisor. The school reserves the right to determine what constitutes a valid excuse for absence. Generally, absence is excusable only if it is morally or physi- cally impossible for the student to be present. In case of absence or tardiness, an admission slip, obtained from the supervisor must be presented to the respective teachers and returned to the proper attendance room at two thirty- five. For tardiness and unexcused absence students are required to remain after school in the proper attendance room, one or more days, according to the nature of the defect of the attendance. No other obligation of any kind in or out of school may take precedence over this obligation. Page 19
