'llhree hundred and forty-live Freshmen, shy and frightened at such a huge institution. llut not for long, for we showed our true colors in the Turkey Raffle in which we were tops.'l Then. before we knew it our Sophomore year was upon us. XYhen one of our own class- mates. 'llhomas Cater, won the Spelling Contest the entire student body took notice of the three hundred and fifty-one up and coming Sophomores. Our literary talent was displayed to the public for the tirst time also in the Sophomore Short Story Contest. Realizing that we really had literary ability the English department decided to transfer the Short Story Contest to thc .lunior Class, which now numbered 33l. No sooner had we completed this project when the .lunior Centric captured our attention. lntent on outdoing the Senior Class we scoured the building from basement to cafeteria in an effort to obtain scoops, Our boys also demonstrated athletic prowess on the gridiron, baseball diamond and basketball court. Swiftly, surely. the years sped by!-but Seniors! live thought they lived forever-it's hard to believe all is overfOur class now numbering 311 started out with a bang. liy the the time the tirst issue of the Centric appeared our class officers were elected. The .Xubrys- Miriam and llarold were again found at the helm assisted by Kenneth Croll and Ruth Eberly. llvhen the Senior rings arrived, the thrill of our Seniority was doubled. Then. with the class play Secret Service we decided to take a trip to the sunny South. No sooner had the Centripetal statii been announced than we visited -lapan to view our operetta The Xlilcadof' ln May, as we eagerly awaited the arrival of the first Centripetal, we chose Kenneth Croll as our Yaledictorian and Ethelyn Patton as Salutatorian. then settled down to Senior Retreat and greeted ,Tune with the llreakfast and linally Commencement. .Xnd so it is with a feeling of satisfaction at having done our part in maintaining the traditions ol Central and yet with pangs of regret that we leave to the underclassmen our places in the school that will always be dear to our hearts. 20
