Round the School in Tloirljf Days Hillside Erboef, with Sister Alethia as new adviser, ran their usual rugged course to success. During the year, the paper received various awards: a first place award from the Pennsylvania School Press Association, two first class honor ratings from the National Scholastic Press Association, and an International first place award from Quill and Scroll. On October 12, the staff members attended a press con- ference at Villanova. Margaret Martin, co-editor of Hillrfde Efboer, spoke on the topic justified Pride. Dr. Regis L. Boyle, teacher of English and Journalism at Woodrow Wilson High School, Washington, D. C., and head ofthe journalism department at Catholic University, accepted an invitation to give an informative talk at our fifth annual Publications Conference on March 22. But a 21-inch snowfall barricaded the journalists and the affair, to the chagrin of all, was cancelled. The February literary edition this year honored Our Lady of Lourdes in picture and story. Best Seller The '58 Cenlmlmaz staff, enthusiastic over the news that Cenzfmlma '56 had won the Medalist and All Catholic awards, started to take pictures and to sketch the dummy of the '58 book in May of ,57. On photography day, October 29, two photographers speeded the picture taking, and all Centralites were glad when they were dismissed an hour early. Our trip to Villanova on October 12 for the annual meet- ing 'of high school journalists held an extra attraction when we met Notre Dame's Fighting Irish squad outside the chapel. Also, Terry gave a talk on Time and Half Time. Our editor received an appointment to the chairmanship of the yearbook section of the Columbia Press Conference in Philadelphia on February 8, but we were snowed in, and couldn't travel. However, the advisers of the yearbook and newspaper traveled to New York for the National Press Conference held March 13, 14 and 15 at Columbia University. At a party on February 11, our stall entertained the staffs of Hillriele Echoer and Sharps and Flair, the stars of Annie Get Your Gunn, and also Central's Be-teenas. Centralma artist D.
