l Reverend Henry Huesman It is fitting that we have memorial days for those who died to preserve freedom from the oppression of men. It is expedient that there be a memorial for the supreme sacrihce of Christ Who died to give us freedom from the tyranny of sin. This we have in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Twenty-live years ago Father Huesman, Pastor of St. Paul Parish and Director of Central Catholic High School, felt the firm anointing thumb that sealed his hands with the power to reenact the Drama of the Redemption. Hearty congratulations, happy Silver Jubiliarian! May your loving service rise like clouds of fragrant incense to delight the Heart of God. 10

The Ri ght Reverend MONSIGN OR EDWARD M. REILLY, J.c.D., LL.D. The Right Reverend Monsignor Edward M. Reilly, a native of Pottsville, Pennsylvania, assumes the responsibility for the complete educational system of the archdiocese. i Following his ordination in 1936, he attended the Catholic Uni- versity of America in Washington, D.C., for graduate work. In 1945, Monsignor Reilly was confronted with the duties of the Diocesan Superintendent of schools. Since that time he has proved himself a worthy successor to a line of expert archdiocesan administrators whose broad vision and attention to detail have made the Philadelphia schools the best in the world. Monsignor's tremendous interest in Catholic education, together with his gracious personality, has won for him the respect and ad- miration of administrators and students alike. 9 The Reverend JOHN j. Reverend Raymond J. Leichner The Lord made to him a covenant of peace that the dignity of priesthood should be to him forever. Our heartfelt congratulations to Father Leichner who is celebrating the lifteenth anni- versary of his ordination to the priesthood. This month of May brings happy memories of his con- secration by His Eminence Dennis Cardinal Dougherty in SS. Peter and Paul Cathedral, Philadelphia. During the past five years we have observed the dynamic energy our beloved principal exerts at his administrative duties and the deep interest he shows in the spiritual health of the students. This zealous bustling, we know, comes from an awareness of his God-given vocation and a realiza- tion that no time may 'be lost in bringing to Central Catholic the peace that results from a union of heaven and earth. 11
