It is one of more than twenty such institutions, operated by a local board of trustees, and the State Department of Community Colleges. The purpose of the institute is to provide post-high school, vocational, and technical training, and general adult education for the residents of Central North Carolina. It is operated on a twelve months basis and is open from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on weekdays. Programs of instruction for full-time students include: Associate Degree of Applied Science Programs are six quarters inlength and require a good academic background for successful completion. Theory and practice is given in mathematics, science, English, social science, and the area of specialization. Diploma Programs are four quarters to seven quarters in length. The emphasis is on practice in the shop, laboratory or field to develop necessary skills. Related work in science, mathematics, and English is included in the course of study. Tuition charges are 532.09 QSSO. 00 out of statej per quarter. Insurance is available for 352.50 per year. Books and supplies average about 530.00 making the total cost per quarter approximately 2565. 00 IS113. 00 Qut of statej. Lee County is located in the heart of North Carolina on the edge of the Piedmont and Sandhills section. Sanford, the county seat, is only 45 minutes from Raleigh, the state capital. Since the institute has no dormitories, housing can be arranged through the Student Personnel Office which maintains a list of approved accommodations. An open door admissions policy is in effect at CCTI. Selective placement in the various Curriculums will depend upon test results and amount of high school work completed.
