Stezelberger, Assistant Princzpal 6 Dear Seniors: As graduates of high school during our Bicentennial, it seems particularly appropriate that you should reflect upon our national heritage for needed strength to meet the demands of the future. There is much that must be corrected in our country, and you will be called upon to respond. The Educational Quality Assessment program you participated in clearly indicates that immediate attention must be given to the area of Societal Responsibility. Every American has this moral challenge before him. As one reflects upon our heritage the words of George Washington seem to take on new meaning when he said, It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and the Bible. He was not referring to the Bible as a church or a religion, but as a Book which has stood the test of time and records the timeless and timely values relevant to all mankind everywhere. History demonstrates that it is this Book that inspired thousands of men and women to travel to a New World where they could live and worship God in freedom. This is the Book our forefathers drew upon for wisdom as they prepared the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. This is the Book that the people of America - in every walk of life - have turned to for comfort, for strength, and for guidance over the years. This is the Book that is in every courtroom of this broad land of ours as a reminder of America's ideal of freedom and justice for all. This is the Book that its enemies burn - the Book they smear and fear, because it proclaims the dignity of the individual and teaches that all men are created in the image of God. We need to renew the spirit our forefathers had in the Bible as the foundation of our personal well-being, and the cornerstone of our country's greatness.
