The general objectives for the Foreign Language De- partment are in keeping with the current emphasis on the communication skills. The study of foreign language is more than an acquisition of subject knowledge. This study offers the students an opportunity to acquire an additional tool for communication, to understand other peoples, and their cultures, to develop self expression and creative ability, and to widen personal interests and appreciations. The foreign language program emphasizes the four skills of understanding, speaking, reading, and writing. Dance in the Gym with Mrs Caplan. The Health and Physical Education Department strives to impress the Central Bucks students with the value of physical fitness. By means of fitness tests and games of skill and endur- ance, students learn the importance of team effort, good sports- manship, and physical achievement. The curriculum of the health classes includes instruction in proper methods of first aid, personal hygiene care, and various mental and physical diseases. The driver education courses stress the importance of de- fensive driving to students, and traffic safety is emphasized both in classrooms and on the roads. The Health, Driver, and Physical Education Departments have the two-fold purpose of developing the minds of the students and developing their good health and safety habits. w Fay E.
