Seniors planning a college career took the State Scholarship Test, College Boards, and the qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarships. In the latter, three seniors were selected as hnalists. Those with immediate vocational plans were given the U. S. Employment Service battery of tests. Boys interested in a military career took the N.R.O.T.C. tests. In special assemblies, representatives oi' all branches ol the armed forces for men and women discussed their particular interest, a college admissions director spoke on the college interview: the Bell Telephone Co. told of the opportunity in their organization, skits on applying for a job were presented and the class had the privilege of hearing a talk on education in South America and of seeing the film, Decision at Laurel Falls. The senior treasury was enlarged hy profits from sock dances, the magazine campaign, pencil machines, and from the sale of Christmas wreaths and candy. Special events of the year were the holiday dance, Crystal Christmas, the senior play, Dear Ruth and the Senior Banquet. The anticipation of several years was realized at long last with trips to the United Nations in March and to VVashington in April. The IHOSI time consuming activity of all, the Antler, records these activities in picture and in word and will provide in years to come pleasant memories of years spent at C. B. VVith the guidance of Miss Shultz, the Class of 1960 began to feel a part of the senior high school. A class cheer was chosen as tl1e result of a contest held in January. Class spirit was also fostered by individual homeroom programs in the class assemblies. Then too, a Christmas program for the entire school was presented by the sophomores. The class raised funds for graduation expenses with a money making project supported enthusiastically by all members. Many homeroom periods were devoted to planning the academic program for their junior and senior years. ROOM 21-Last Roux' R. Dilworth, j. Vander Water, C. Myers, N. Doerfler, P. Corson, Newbert, B. In accomplishing their first objective, various homerooms pre- sented assemblies on social problems and how to solve them. The first social event of the year was held in December, a combination movie and dance. The second and third objectives were promoted during home- room periods through films and lecture-demonstrations. A talent show was the outstanding event in March.
