Religious Education Spare the rod and spoil the child. The trend of parents today, the abolition of the switch, has brought an increasing demand for dedicated, educated people. Workers are needed who are capable of capturing attention through mere gesture, inflection of the voice, and the use of audio visual material. The Religious Education Department, headed by Dr. Donald Johns, has endeavoredto help meet this demand by instructing education majors in the principles of ministry to children, youth, and other church-school related programs. However, since knowledge without the ability to apply and relate it is worthless to a prospective educator, a student teaching program has been established. Constructive critical advice is given to the student teacher after being observed in an actual class- room situation. Persons majoring in education have unlimit- ed opportunites to spread the gospel.
