I. basketball team had a record of '7 wins and 9 losses during the past season. This record doesn't look too impressive, but most of our games were played against much larger schools. The team went into the district playoffs at Fort Fairfield seeded number one, and, by winning over Ricker and Washburn, won the Aroostook M Championship and the right to represent the district in the Eastern Maine Tournament at Bangor, At Bangor the team made a slow start but improved near the end of the game, although we lost to the Eastem Maine Champions, Brownville Junction, Robert Anderson represented the school at the annual foul shooting contest held at Aroostook State Teachers College. He tied for third place by netting 44 out of 50 tries. Sponsored by MARS HILL RADIO AND TV CENTER 'R We ' xv is A - . U t l, . I S' 2 N' Q if A if xuw 4 3, it 'Ag X as if G i BASEBALL FIRST ROW: C. AROOS TOOK LEAGUE C HA MPIONS Last year the A. C,I. baseball team under the guidance of Mr. Porter won their first Aroostook League championship in eight years with a record of eight wins and two losses. Among the eight victories were wins over schools with a much larger enrollment, including two wins over runner-up Presque Isle and one over Houlton. For winning the championship the local merchants donated money to send the team to Boston to see two ball games between the Boston Red Sox and the Washington Senators. The team stands a very good chance of repeating the championship again this year with ten players retuming from last year's team. Another advantage is that we have our pitching staff, Billy Thomas and Larry Weeks. with us again this year. Retuming lettermen are B. Thomas, Captain: L. Weeks, C. Tumer, D. Kingsbury, E. Hathaway, R. Anderson, T. Keating, and G. Benson. Sponsored by G. L. HEWITT VARSITY CHEERLEADERS KNEELING: A. Crichton G. Orser J Beal STANDING L Beattie N. Graves P. Crichton P.
