Last spring, we were host to the district F.F.A. and held the annual North- ern District F.F.A. Contest here. The poultry judging was done in the base- ment of the gym. Rope and rafters were done in the old gym and potato dis- eases, tool identification contests etc. , were held in the classrooms. The cattle judging was done at Ralph l-lotham's farm. We were the champions and were awarded a plaque. The boys that took part in the contest were: Robert Blanchard, Ion Clayton, Tommy Tilley, Adrian Smith, and Dana Mullen. Just before school closed, the Future Farmers, Floyd McPherson, Cecil Caldwell, and Barney Curtis went deep sea fishing. This year we went to East- port. We arrived there about 5 o'clock in the morning, after making the trip in the F.F.A. bus. The boys had breakfast at a restaurant, then went put fishing. The fishing was very good, but the weather was really too cold to enjoy it for long. We arrived home about 4 P. M. We had a grand time and hope to go again next year. This year we had nearly three acres of Certified Russet Burbank Potatoes. We raised them on Harden Shaw's Farm. They were very good and we still have them in storage. We raised 515 barrels. We wish to thank those that helped us with our fertilizer and spray materials. We are making plans for our next year potato project now. This year we have done some logging. We bought a new chain saw. Tru- man Tapley found a good place for us to cut on the Great Northern. We have about two thousand feet cut now and plan on cutting more in the spring. We will probably work some Saturday's as we want to have lumber enough to en- large our shop, make a garage for our bus, and have some lumber to use in the shop. We used our tractor to pull the logs out of the woods. The entire chapter and the members of the Band who were to play in the State Band made a trip together in the F.F.A. bus. The Band members went to Bangor to take part in the State Band. The boys made good reports of the meetings they attended and we had to give them in class. We learned a lot and hope to stay down for two days this year. We arrived home about 2 A. M. a bunch of ver tired bo s. Y , Y H ' -
