CHS HAS NEW SCHOOL SYSTEM This year we changed school systems. We now have a school board. The school board is composed of five local persons. Earl McDaniel is new trustee replacing Walter Kendal. Charles McClain is president of the school board. This year we also have a new principal and superintendent. Dr. Keith Rose is the new sup- erintendent, and Mr. Nicholas Richer is the new principal. The English curriculum consists of English gra ms: and Literature. One semester a year is devoted to each. Speech is also a part of the English field Seniors may take this subjectg one year of English credit is given for the Speech course, ENGLISH DERIVED FROM LATIN Latin is the foreign language available at our high school. Students taking the academic course are required to take this subject for two years. Latin is especially valuable because 601 of the English words are derived from it. Also this subject helps to give us an understanding of the great Roman civilization. TWO NEW SOCIAL SCIENCE SUBJECTS ARE ADDED At least two years of social studies are required at every high school in Indiana. In- cluded in the social science field are two new subjects--psychology and sociology. One semes- ter of each was given this year.
