The club had eighteen member last fall, and with the in- duction of the Freshman Boys, increased its number to twenty-four. A highlight of the year was the H1-y Conference, a training camp for officers and Hi-y members. Coach Howe and nine local boys attended this meeting, which provided in tion and fun for all. The club worked on the World Service Program in February and March, making a gen- erous contribution to this drive. Third RowzJohn Buriff,Dick Turner, Clifford Purdin, Don Schell, Steven Bridge. The Centerville Chatter Club was organized September l, l9h5, and became an active organization on October 15. The recreation activities are carried on in the basement of the Township Hall. At the present the club has ninety-one members, including pupils from the seventh to the twelfth grade, and a few high school gradu- ates. Meeting nights are Monday, Friday, and Saturday. The main objective of the organization is to provide wholesome recreation for boys and girls, such as games--billiards, cards, and ping pong--and social dancing. Other objectives are the developing of social poise, qualities of leadership, standards of good citi- zenship, and civic pride in the community as a whole. The Chatter Club has a Recreation Com ittee of the teen- age group, which planned for special entertainment at Christmas, New Years, and Valentine's Day. This committee also planned a thirty minute play, 'Amateur Radio Night', given at a meeting of the Lions Clube The local Lions' Club sponsored the youth organization. A spec- ial Recreation Committee from the Lions' Club initiates plans for activities for the young people. The committee is com- posed of the fol- lowing men: C. L. Stingley, Ed Deck- er, James Pres- baugh, and Mark Bridge. In addi- tion to helping organize the Club, the Lions' Club gave financial as- sistance tc take care of initial costs of club fur- nishings. -QQ...-Q..
