Of this number eleven have completed their school- ing here: John Buriff, Ray Gatts, Patricia Harnish, Florence Hibberd, Alma Lucas, Dale Lucas, Clifford Furdin, Lucille Reeder, Bill Schiewetz, Doris Stubbs, and Dudley Zimmerman. The other members joined us in the following grades: 3rd, Martha Collins, 4th, Everett Shafferg 5th, Mar- jorie Current and Paul Garberg 7th, John Whitaker and Clarann Harnishg 9th, G6PtPUQ6 Hackley and Joyce Browng lOth, Barbara Woodsg llth, Don Schell. We spent many happy days in the lower grades together. In the fifth grade we had a very active class. Our baseball team for this year is shown in this book with our baby pictures. An outstanding event in the seventh grade was a pie fight between the Wildasinn twins, in which we tried to restore brotherly love to the miscreants. In the eighth grade we had our first tea for our Mothers. We entered the Freshman year with all the usual Ugreenn earmarks. Our first attempt to make money as a class was in this year, when we had the Bingo at the Halloween Carnival. During the basketball season we had several classmates on the varsity team. As nmischieviousn Sophomores, we sold pencils to add to our treas- ury, besides having the Bingo again. We had little difficulty in choos- ing our class rings, which we received the following year. As busy Juniors, we presented the play, Swing Fever . During that year we sold pop and magazines to help us along financially. In the Spring we held our Jr. k Sr. Prom at the Wishing Well. The theme was V1ctory . In the fall of 1945 we entered our last year of high school as ndignifledu Seniors. On WSenior Dayn we had our pictures taken by Howard Knoll. We also visited the Dayton Daily News and WHIO. Our class was well represented on the basketball team this year. We were proud to have nine out of the ten boys on the team. On March 8, four of us Seniors went to Roosevelt High School to take the General Senior Scholarship Test. After the test, we were given the remainder of the day off. We gave nwhere There's A Willu as our class play on April 6, 1946, coached by Mr. Seal. The cast enjoyed the practice and was pleased with the results. H. S. On the first page, we find a snap of a charming young Lady Preacher. After inspecting it close- ly, we decide it is Doris Stubbs. Opposite this page, we find a picture of a tall, dark, and handsome surveyor and his family. Could this be John Euriff? His wife looks familiar, too. Wow! Look here. It's Becky Hibberd teaching her little boys to play basketball,Cfuture C.H.S. starsl. Becky always was noted for her ability in athletics. Looking farther at the pictures, we see a truck with a sign on it, NPur- din's Speedy Trucking Serv1ce.H There is Clifford under the shade tree his children. He surely changed his mind since school days. Turning the page, we find a young woman artist working in a display dow. It's Martha Collins. She always was good at that kind of work. Look at this next photo,--a couple of gold miners up in Alaska. It be Klondike John Whitaker and Northern Nelson Garber. They don't look familiar, though, bundled up in those skunk furs. with win- must too Oh! Look at this one. There's that NShip-Ahoyu Pat Harnish, with her sailor husband. It looks like she didn't change from Navy to Army, and with all those children,--another person that changed her mind. Speaking of the Navy. Here's Joyce Brown with her husband Kvaguely fa- miliarl. She really must be proud of the Navy, for she has her children all decked out in sailor suits. Well, look who's opposite this page. It's Everett Shaffer, and the new plastic farm he just bought, after saving his money for a long time. He always was a first-class farmer and gentleman. Imagine this. One woman with all those children, about twenty to be exact. But don't get excited. It's only a school teacher by the name of Margie Current. A sleek-looking racer appears in the next photo, that has just won the Indianapolis Speedway. Also take closer inspection of the driver. Don Schell! Can you imagine him as a Speedway Driver? Looking at the next picture, we see a lot of wide open spaces and cattle. There's HCowboyn Bill Schiewetz herding them like an experienced cow-hand. Turning the page, we see Dud Zimmerman. Here he is at work Cbelieve it or notl as a foreman. I bet he really likes it, for he always wanted a job like this. Our next picture is in a large stadium. In this scene the Buck- eye Buckshots are playing the Louisiana Lousies. The star on the home team is a well-known guy to us,--Ray Gatts. State Well, here is a good picture. It's Dale Lucas hoeing his corn. Looks as though the old-fashioned tools are coming back into style. My! Observe this next snap. It looks like a bus station. Notice that woman directing the people to a sign that reads, HNew Carlisle.H Gertrude Hackley got her wish evidently. Look who's next. We find Clarann Harnish out in front of a large clothing store, directing the prospective customers into the building. We hear she is now manager of this store. Look at this next picture. What a dream cottage! There stands Barbara Kwoodsl peering out the window, and several children are playing in the yard She always had motherly parts in the class plays. Over here we ace the Brookville Municipal Building. The Mayor of the town with his wife, Alma Lucas, are standing in front of the building, waiting for the crowd to his new proclamation, set up by his wife. cheer Our last snap in the album shows us a plastic building of a popular new type of construction material. We see Lucille Reeder as manager of this establishment. The sign on it reads, nLucy's Light Lunches.H We now close the album, as there are no more pictures to gaze at. We hope you have enjoyed looking at the future with us. There are no guaran- tees that things will work out this way, though. The recreation activities are carried on in the basement of the Township Hall. At the present the club has ninety-one members, including pupils from the seventh to the twelfth grade, and a few high school gradu- ates. Meeting nights are Monday, Friday, and Saturday. The main objective of the organization is to provide wholesome recreation for boys and girls, such as games--billiards, cards, and ping pong--and social dancing. Other objectives are the developing of social poise, qualities of leadership, standards of good citi- zenship, and civic pride in the community as a whole. The Chatter Club has a Recreation Com ittee of the teen- age group, which planned for special entertainment at Christmas, New Years, and Valentine's Day. This committee also planned a thirty minute play, 'Amateur Radio Night', given at a meeting of the Lions Clube The local Lions' Club sponsored the youth organization. A spec- ial Recreation Committee from the Lions' Club initiates plans for activities for the young people. The committee is com- posed of the fol- lowing men: C. L. Stingley, Ed Deck- er, James Pres- baugh, and Mark Bridge. In addi- tion to helping organize the Club, the Lions' Club gave financial as- sistance tc take care of initial costs of club fur- nishings. -QQ...-Q..
