Their primary duty is to select the school's entertainment throughout the entire year. They choose the entertainment which would be the most enjoyable and appreciated. Their secondary duty is to discuss any problems which seem to arise during the entire school year. Many problems which cause a good deal of thinking are finally solved at these meetings. The Society has thus far this year participated in the First Student Congress at Bentleyville andthe second Student Congress at Charleroi. Members have participated in speech events at California High School and Bentleyville High School, and have received firsts in various fields. The debate team will take part in the County Debate Contest. Two seniors and a representative will be seated at the Third Student Congress meeting at Baldwin Township High School. Contestants in humorousreading, serious de- clamation, Shakespearean reading, poetry reading, original oration, extemporaneous speaking, radio, and discussion are scheduled to participate in the Washington County Forensic Contest this month. The members leaving the Society, because of graduation this year, have recorded a fine standing for themselves. Sponsors: Miss Jones, Miss Chan- ning, Miss Albacker, Mr. Knesovich FURENSIC Row 1: V. The aim of every Centerville boy is to become a member of this outstanding organization. Many have achieved this goal and are extremely proud to wear the letters and sweaters they earned. Members must participate in at least one sport and it is by this method and through very hard work that they obtain them. The boys deserve much praise for the honor they have bestowed upon Cen- terville in the field of sports. Their activities consist of sponsoring dances after games and selling pop at noon. They place emphasis on athletics and point out the values gained from sportsmanship and proper training. VARSITY CLUB Pres: R. Mitchell, V. Pres: F. Ko- Sponsors: Mr. Edwards, M,-, Har- vach, Sec: C. Their fine team-spirit and willingness to work together helped fashion a team that was out to win. We are proud that these boys wore the orange and black of our school. Five of our Varsity Basketball Team graduate this season, and we are extremely sorry at their departure.l have known Show, Mitchell, Ambrose, Roncadori, and Byland since they formed an inexperienced jr. High team in 1949-1950. Allow me to thank you fellows who are leaving memories that will remain with me for years to come. Boys, as you leave school and enter a new and different life, may it present you many opportunities and much happiness. To the boys remaining, which include Gill, Halligan, jackson, Dorsey, Hegedus, and several others, let me point out it must be your aim to fill the places of your predecessors and carry our colors throughout the district and stand out as the fighting Centerville Wildcats.
