T0 THE CLASS OF 1949 In the March of Time you are number 40 as the units of graduates pass the reviewing stand. As in all parades, some groups pass unnoticed while others are quite spectacular with their bright uniforms and high-stepping musicians. It matters little how we are heralded along life's way. Some receive great cheers at the time of minor successes only later to be rebuffed. Can you take both and still sticlc to your course?', is the chal- lenge of today. Remember, you are one of one hundred-oneg if you were not, there would be but one hundred. You count as an individual and the class counts on you. Your success will contribute to that for allg your failure will likewise affect all. I sincerely trust you will each prove worthy of an important place in the society of which you are a part. W. R. WILLIAMS ONWARD! HO! We have crossed another range in that long trail which leads to a richer and fuller life to come. The experiences and pleasures, along with the hardships and disappointments, have cemented friendships which will last into eternity. The school days of our lives are ever to be remem- bered and treasured as we grcw older and drift afar over lifeis eternal sea. The turns we make in school and the records we leave behind, bcth in the halls of learning and in the memory of friends, serve to be as footprints in the sands of time. May the next forty years bring as much growth and expan- sion to our school as the last forty. Many who are here today will not survive the rigors of the trail to see the class of forty years hence, but as we pass over that western horizon a new and sturdy band will be seen coming over the eastern rim of the great American way of life. May peace set the sign posts of the world. W. A. BURSON f .Z
