r X Qtftiliobs-'P,lxc.g-.I x.Q.JlQ1IQt.1-Jang-.3 GQD 4-C-P3 I 1 A REIVIINISCENCE If you will go back to about 1896 or 7 you will recall that our many school enter tamments had to be given in the Russell Hall which at that time was the only theater we had in the City Well do I remember as a small child, the narrow stage the steep little statrs that led to the dressing rooms and the small dressing rooms themselves Too I cm recall how odd the seats were nothing but ordlnarv straight back chairs three or four nailed to a strip of wood so that they could not easily be pushed out of place Then a few vears later I can remember we had to gnc our programs either in the Central VVa1d Buzldmg which was also the high school or in the Drake Azerme Theater We thought the H S at old Central Ward Was all that could be but soon we found we needed more room for pupils gvm work, and entertainments Then in 1911 came the Grammar School Building a wonderful new building surely It would do for many years to come but It was within five years that we began to feel the need of more room A movement was started and the fine Nea H S Buzldmg with the splendid new Auditorium is the result If vou can realize the difliculties under which teachers and officials have worked in departments in course of study and our new audltorium We should make it the center of life for all schools and the public here in Centerville and the surrounding country I must not forget to mentton the wonderful grand piano the Hxgh School is attempt mg to pay for at present This piano stands near the front and to one side or the other of the stage It is a great incentive to the musical side of our school life and should appeal to the lovers of music of both the city and country If the ALUMNI wish to help a good cause give to the H S PIANO FUND There IS no doubt ln my mind that Old C H S 1: not old any more but young already to go forward in the future And l can see no rcascn why she should not become one of the greatest, if not the greatest High School in the state Fverybody friends alumni and activcs pull together and she .ull be great With the tlcking of the clock Ol-fl11lL I seem to hear C H S Can' C H S C nl C H S W 1 1 I L BARNETT I ' Y 3 ' - . .
