These boys are members of the lndustrlal Arts Club. Thirty -two members are on the club roll. This club ls a very popular one, as it offers a change of pace from know- ledge gained solely from books, and the boys have a tangible product to display and use. Mr. Fullhart is the club sponsor. The purposes of our Industrial Art Club are many. Each member of the club learns to use his hands to create beautiful or useful objects, learns to appreciate good design, materials and workmanship, and learns how to select, use and care for industrial products wisely. Also, members of the club learn to help each other in group undertakings, such as choosing activities of interest to all. This year basketry, leathercraft, 'metal craft, plastics, model making and woodwork have been some of our most rewarding projects. Greg Compton Welds a Table Frame. Our Science Club ls one of our most effective clubs. Its purpose ls to learn of scientific matters, and to share ideas with others in the club. The activities of the club include participation ln our own Science Fair and that of Kansas Clty, as well as that of the National Science Fair, lf we merit the latterg planting trees on the school gproundg and making trips to such places as the Linda Hall Library, Midwest Research, and William Jewell College. Each year our club plants a tree to beautify our school site. In the above scene, we select a hard maple for planting. Mr. Spelse helps us make the choice. On the right, we plant the tree which ls a symbol of growth. As the tree grows, we hope our interest and knowledge of scientific matters will grow, ln order that each club member will be able to give help- ful servlce to our community and to our country. THE CAMERA CLUB The boys of the Camera Club are enjoying the sunshine and the instruction concerning the operation of the press camera. Andy Myers has been our camera man this year for the Kachina, and as you can see from the finished book, he has done a wonderful job. Other boys in the club have helped us with pictures from time to time, and we are grateful to each of them, as :ell as Mr. Cockeriel for his advice and elp. Mr. Cockerlel supervises a meeting of the shutterbugs he sponsors. While the boys have great fun and learn about picture taking, they perform a flne service for school publications and students who buy their pictures. Many a bulletin board ls adorned with snaps which preserve priceless memories.
