We. the Class of '66, the Class of ,67 and the Class of '68, supply the alert, witty, questioning, happy, sad, spirited minds which can only be described as us. .l.u.b.s. ............. . . tCenter's Loyal United g'Bee Societiesl Each organization through its own program enriches the Centerite in a special way. But although the many clubs diversify the Yellowjackets in one way, in another- by being Center clubs- they unify the student body. Culture ................ If not for our splendid Fine Arts department, the schedule at Center would, indeed, be less colorful. There is something to learn in each play presented, each melody sung, each oration delivered, each canvas studied. How wonderful to be able to enjoy them within the walls of our own school! Goings n ............ . . Energy that has been building up in the other areas of school life is finally released in the many activities at Center. From student government to student dances, from learning abroad to learning behind a department store counter, there is something going on for everyone. Competition ............ Where else can the fighting Yellowjacket symbol be better represented than on the playing field and in the stands? Football, cross country bas- ketball, wrestling, and track offer the competitive spirit that is the essence ot a proud Centerite. 4 MlDfC ills 5? 2255 SQ 1 W .Wife iii 5535 5?z??0fi? . .... .......,,, , , ,24 Q35 f ffff' -Q ig- PLATO? . ..... .......... 118 'J xx: .. 5,9 STUDENT comm, l ri-X . .................. 140 Q-:fe Q53 5256 'iff 2152 55? The graduating class of 1966 began their final year with the selection of class rings and a lively steak fry, which featured a new class song. Soon, however, everyone was settling down to study, especially in the senior courses of trig, psych, and socf, While some English classes discussed C.B.S., others slaved over the native's return, and still others giggled over the lines, Double, double toil and trouble: Fire burn, and caldron bubblef, Worry spread through the class and exclamations of Hyukw could be heard before and after the Ohio Psychological Tests and College Boards. A weekly gathering created victory posters throughout the year. Feelings were mixed as the senior class attended their last prom, em- barked on their senior trip, and walked down the graduation aisle climaxing many years of fun and hard work. 26 A Bar COE ,lam C Cl 12: I 11, 1 tain llgV l2,C v., Barbara Allen COE 12. The Center Band, under the excellent direction of Mr. Claude Smith, had many functions this year. Throughout September, October, and November it functioned as a Marching Band which provided both entertainment and spirit at all home football games. This same band also represented Center quite effectively in the American Royal Parade and at the Kansas University Band Activities. As the weather grew colder, the Marching Band became the Concert Band. Besides performing for the student body through- out the year, the group participated in district and state music concerts, bringing home many honors. A select group of the Concert Band became the Stage Band. This band played for many school and community functions. This year the Center High School Concert Band had the great honor of playing with the Kansas University Brass Choir under the direction of Carl 'gDoc', Severinson, a staff musician at NBC, in Garrison Auditorium on January 16, 1966.
