The money-making event of the year was the Fall Carnival. Two outstanding projects were the Center Scholarship Fund and the formal reception given May 8, honoring the Senior Class, Another annual project was the luncheon August 28, which was cooked and served by the mothers for the fac- ulty, as the parents' thanks for the many hours spent by teachers in behalf of their children. The unit also supported the Student Council project of launching a Foreign Exchange Student program here at Center Senior High. Due to its being a small and more intimate group, one of this P.T.A. unit's goals for next year is 100070 membership participation. Executive Board A ... In duel competition, the Center cindermen won three and lost two. The first victory came over Grandview '73 to 44g and after a loss to Paseo, 43 to '73, the cinder- men edged Ruskin 63 to 55, and ran past Lee's Summit 67 to 53. On the last duel meet of the year, Center fell to the hands of tough Pem Day, 65 to 53. On April 17, the Yellowjackets competed in the William Jewell Track Meet scor- ing 7 3X4 points with Keith LaQuey taking first in the shot put, Bruce Reed fourth in the low hurdles, Bill Remy third in the high jump, and the mile relay team of Baxter Newton, Richard Wilson, Bruce Reed, and Steve Stalker, placing third. On the night of the Mid West Track Conference, the score was so close between Center and Ruskin until the mile relay, that the meet depended on the winning of that event. Center took the mile relay in 3:39.'7 and the championship with a score of 38 112 points to runner -up Ruskin's 34 1f6. The mile relay stick was carried by Baxter Newton, Bruce Reed, Richard Wilson, and Steve Stalker. By winning the meet, Center gained possesion of the Traveling Trophy for keeps, which takes three consecutive conference championships for ownership. Keith LaQuey took first in the shot put with a record breaking toss of 50'5 l!2 with teammate, Jim Heotis, taking third. Steve Stalker, Mickey Banta, Baxter Newton and Larry Bullard teamed to win the 880 yard relay in l:3'7.'7. In the high jump, Bill Remy jumped 5'6 to tie for first. Center was represented at the District meet by Bruce Reed and Keith LaQuey. They also qualified for the State Outdoor where Keith placed fourth in the shot put, and Bruce competed in the 180 yard low hurdles. Keith LaQuey was named to the All-State Track Team, 5 6 C55 F2 'L ' ' -Q 4 ', - - fi 1 1 f-.. in .
