Center Public School—189? This picture was reproduced from an old glass plate loaned to us by Mrs. Lois Keithly, Center, Missouri 1883-First school house constructed in Center. 1897-A brick building constructed where the first building stood. 1900-School board met either in the store room of E.F. Scanland, or in the office of E. '. Keithly. 1905- A new room was added to the building. Also, a piano was purchased and a sidewalk v.as built. 1906- A two-year high school course was started. 1912-New furnace was ourchased. 1916- 13,400 bond issue passed for the construction of the present building. 1918-Became a fir3t class school. 1921-Organization of Parent- Teachers Association and a girls' basketball team. 1958-Completed a large addition to the building: a gymnasium, two class rooms, a stage, and rest rooms. 1945-New furnace was purchased. 1951- School purchased a new trophy case. 1952- Cirls' and boys' basket- ball suits were purchased. 1956- Eoys' basketball suits were purchased. 1957- Organization of the Ralls County School District R-II to include Ferry, New London, and Center. 1958- Eids let for Ralls County District R-II High School— TIBS MARK TV.'AIN HIGH SCHOOL Center Public School—1959 2
