The Center girls’ basketball team ended the 1958-59 season with 4 wins and IV losses. Though the defeat and the hard luck they suffered early in the season as a result of injuries was bitter, there was always the spark there never to give up. They experienced a number of close games and everyone should be proud of them for the sportmanship which they displayed on and off the court. The forward's individual records for the year stand as follows: Carolyn Waddell, 13 points per game; Jane Morawitz, 9 points per game; Wanda Walkup, 4 points per game; Karen Welden, 2 points per game; Sharon Dudding 2 points per game and Gertrude Grawe, 2 points per game. Carolyn Waddell and Wanda Walkup, seniors, were selected as co-captains for the season. All girls on the squad earned a letter this year. Close games lost: 1 game by 1 point; 2 games by 2 points; 1 game by 3 points; 1 game by 4 points; 2 games by 6 points. Year’s total points: Center 553: Opponents 683. 10 First Row, Left to Right--3ddie Palmer, Calvin Youngblood, Danny Horawitz, Ronnie Hulse, Darrell Harvey. V ith the passing of time, the echoes of basketball will grow fainter and fainter, and then die away. Gone forever will be the routine of basketball; the fun we had; and the friends we made. It is our hope that as you glance at this page in the years to come, you will recapture those moments—and the echoes will return again. The Bulldogs closed the 1958-59 season with a fine record for the season 21 wins and 7 losses, which is one of the most successful in the history of the school. Highlights of the season include: first place at the Leonard Tournament; and second at the Community Tournament. After seven years Ilasco walked the plank and the defeat of Perry three times soothed old wounds. After a 'year of inexperience and hard work, our boys had the experience necessary to become successful. Their deadly shooting and their wonderful determination to win, which is the basis for all successful teams, paid off. The seniors who will be leaving us are: Danny Korawitz, Ronnie Hulse, Sddie Palmer and 7 ayne Cottrell. These boys, along with Darrell Harvey, Calvin Youngblood, Jim Oglesby, Sibert Hill Jr. and Jerry Huss carried the load for us this year. Danny Morawitz and Ronnie Hulse were chosen co-captains for this season. All boys on the squad earned a letter this year.
