Wilson Back row---L. to R.—Teddy Summers, Junior Ardrey, J9ob Cowden, Charles Woods, Donnie Ravenscraft The students of Center High School, in order to give the stu- dents a practical knowledge of democracy by instituting self-govern- ment in center High School, to bring about a better co-operation between the students and their teachers, to promote the general welfare of the student body, and to establish higher standards of character, leadership, scholarship, and school spirit, established a Constitution for the Student Council. The Student Council was organized September 22, 1950. The Council consisted of eight members, one representative and the president of each class. The elected officers were Shirley Salsman, President, Virginia Wilson, Vice-President, Jdary Webb, oecretary, and Junior Ardrey, Reporter. Other members consisted of Bobby Cowden, Charles woods, Teddy Summers, and Donnie Ravenscraft. school carnival was planned and held on February 15, 1951, It was a great success in spite of the ice storm that occurred during that period. Other activities' sponsored by the Student Council included a food stand at Achievement Day on April 7th, and on May 10th there was an all school party held at Buzzards Roost, at Florida Park. The Student Council has been a success since its organization in 1949. 3
