history of the senior cuss On September 4, 1947, twenty-four green looking freshmen ascended the stairs of center High School. The class consisted of the following members: John baker, Margaret Palmer, Bob Cowden, Sherry Tapley, Dorothy Briggs, Sandra Asher, Kenneth Evans, uwaine Fertch, Etta Mae Inlow, Shirley Salsman, Earl Reeves, Sftilrley Schuermann, Joyce carter, Norma Kohler, Norma Jean Jackson, Mildred Tapley, Sara Cowden, cola May Floyd, Joe Campbell, Ellis Hinch, Stella Rabat, Donna MeDade, Arthur Camme, and Buena Buhrkuhl. Miss Faye K. Moore was selected as our class sponsor. When school opened the next fall, the mere educated class of £ophomores had lost five of their members f the year before, Ellis Hinch, Donna ucDade, Joe Campbell, Cola May Floyaf, end Buena Buhrkuhl. Two new members were added, Joyce Ceake and Mildred ScfyKimer Again, Miss Faye K. Moore was selected as our sponsor. In the year of 1949, enrolled as Juniors in C. H. 5. Only two members dropped out, Arthur Caena. end Stella Fabst. Mr. -’Bryan Hansford was selected as our class sponsor. Activities of our oleMs-consisted of a play, Aunt Tillie Goes to Town. Vile honored the -senior class ith banquet'titled, Old Fashioned uarden. During the year we lost four members, Mildred Japley, Norma Kohler, Earl Reeves, and Shirley Schuermann. OnemHWt'member wa added, Norma Ellison. And now in the year of 1951, we have climbed the ladder of education to our senior year of high school, ; e have thre'e new members, COl 1tty Floyd, Shirley Sexton, and Norma Mertz. Two members, Norma, Ellieoh mni Joyce Carter, moved away. Mr. Charles Uurall is our class sponsor. .Therwrejpe -only seventeen members left in our class and as we approach graduation time we realize the good times and many friends that we have acquired and enjoyed during our four years of high school at good old C. SENIOR CUSS PROPHECY Thia is tlie year of 1966 and tha Sanior Class of 1951 has hald thair first raunion sinca their graduation from Canter High School. Tha reunion was hald in tha home of Mr. and Mrs. Charlas Durall and children of Shelby- ville, Missouri. This is a summary of each individual's life up to the present time. Shirley S lsman is a nurse in St. John's Mental Hospital. She is very successful in her work. Sara Cowden is playing in a concert at Carnegie Hall in New fork. Norma Mertz is a telephone operator in St. Louis. No one has heard whether she plans to get married or to stay an old maid. Margaret Palmer and Jess Horn were’married soon after school was out. They live on a farm east of Center and have four children, Maggie, Leon, Jessica, and Ann. lou remember John Baker? Well, he is playing basketball for the Globe Trotters and has made a small fortune. We hear he is getting ready to return to Center for a wife. Mildred Scheiner is marrying her boss, whom she has worked for five years. He's a millionaire and the wedding is to be quite an affair. Dorothy Briggs married M. A. Calhoun the day after we graduated in 1951. They have two fine children, Augustus and Melinda. Sherry Tapley and Bob Cowden got married about four months after graduation. Sherry is a reporter for the Cossip in New fork, sob is in the Navy. Joyce Leake is a stenographer for a Diaper Manufacturing Company in Colorado. She is still single. Lola May Ployd and Pat Myers got married about a year after graduation at Center. They have twins, Larry and Cary. Shirley Sexton is an old maid as of now. Hut not for long. She has some man on the string. Mr. and Mrs. Dwaine rertoh are building a new home about two miles south of Center. They have five little Pertch's. The twins, Eddie and Etta, and the triplets, uwaine, ilaine, and Wayne. Ur. and Mrs. Kenny Evans live in New fork. She was Sandra Asher. Kenny drives a truck and Sandra takes care of Linda Sue and Terry Lee. They are planning on building a little bungalow in New York. Norma Jean Jackson is getting married soon. e hear they are going to live on a pig farm near Monroe City. 1 hope they have good luck with all their little pigs. Jr Sisyyt4Lj VI? Senior O QrVapVi 9
