Mr. O'Shaughnessey, who ioined the Center Grove faculty the second semester as guidance counselor, received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from Ball State Teachers College. He also teaches U.S. history, sociology, and English. 94 Wlwwwm Friendship in its truest form could always be expected from John Barks, who until his sudden death on October 28, 1962, was guidance director at Center Grove. Mr. Barks came to Center Grove in 'I955 as iunior high math and English teacher and dean of boys. During his seven years here he partici- pated in a numb.er of school activities. He was sponsor of several classes and the National Honor Society, served as vice- president of Classroom Teachers Association, and was a member ot Dads' Club. His un- tiring efforts contributed greatly to the success of the Halloween Carnivals, spon- sored for several years by P.T.O. Mr. Barks was vitally interested in the welfare of Center Grove students and de- voted his time unselfishly to any project which would make Center Grove a better school. He deserved and received the love .and respect of all those who knew him. 66 O. J. SLOOP, JR .... Mr. Sloop acts as athletic director and teaches math. He graduated from Butler University, where he obtained B.S. and M.S. degrees. MARGARET VANDERMEER . . . Mrs. Vandermeer, Spanish and French teacher, sponsors two clubs connected with these languages. She received B.S. and M.S. degrees from Purdue University and did additional work at Indiana University. DAVID VAN VELD . . . Mr. Van Veld, instrumental music instructor, directs the elementary, iunior high, and high school bands. He holds a B.M.Ed. degree from Indiana University and has attended Butler and Purdue Universities. RALPH BUNTON . . . Mr. Bunton, a new teacher at Center Grove this year, received his B.S. degree from Central Normal College and his M.S. from Purdue University. He teaches seventh grade history and is eighth grade football and basketball coach. DELLA MCMAHON . . . Miss McMahon teaches eighth grade math, general math, and algebra. She attended Wisconsin State College, the University of Wisconsin, and the University of Missouri, where she received B.S., M.S., and Ed.D. degrees respectively. RONNIE STEWARD . . . Mr. Steward, who teaches seventh grade math and is an eighth grade sponsor, graduated from Franklin College with an A.B. degree.

A teacher of general business and Latin, he received an A.B. degree from Indiana State College and a M.S. degree from Indiana University. JUDITH MEEKS . . . Mrs. Meeks received her A.B. degree in music education from Franklin College and spent her iunior year at Heidel- berg University in Germany. She directs the choirs and lunlor hlgh music program and has had interesting travels through Germany, Italy, France, Switzerland, and Austria. BONNIE MILES . . . Mrs. Miles, who received her A.B. degree from Franklin College and is working on her M.A. in iournalism at Indiana University, teaches English, speech, and iournalism. She also is newspaper, yearbook and Quill and Scroll adviser. IRA MORRISON . . . Mr. Morrison teaches industrial arts, woodworking, mechanical drawing, and is sponsor of National Honor Society. He earned his B.S. degree at Indiana University and his M.S. degree from Indiana State College. STELLA MORRISON . . . Mrs. Morrison, home economics teacher, earned her B.S.degree atlndiana University and ls now doing graduate work there. Her hobbies include golf and sewing. JIM PLUMMER . . . Mr. Plummer, assistant football coach and seventh grade basketball coach, teaches general science. His A.B. degree was acquired from Franklin College. Skin diving and golf are among his hobbies. BILL PORTER . . . Mr. Porter, sponsor of Lettermen's Club, is baseball coach and assistant basketball coach. He teaches health and driver's education. He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from Butler University. JEAN ROBERTSON . . . Mrs. Robertson, a graduate of Indiana University with an A.B. degree, teaches freshman and senior English. She is also co-sponsor of both Sunshine Society and the iuniar class. LEONARD ROBEY . . . Mr. Robey, who teaches chemistry and physics, received his B.S. degree from Indiana State College. During the summer he enioys fishing, camping, and scout work. DAVID ROUSH . . . Mr. Roush, English teacher, is a gradu- ate of Franklin College and attended Maryland and Indiana Universities.
