Newly organized due to the addition of French to the curriculum, the French Club attracted 60 members who enioyed activities that helped them gain broader knowledge of France, its language, and customs. With the addition of French to the curriculum Center Grove gain.ed another language club. This club, which attracted 60 members, joined the firmly esta- blished Latin and Spanish Clubs. French Club held its initiation in early March. Each member was required to participate in a five- minute skit with tive other members. Members of the Spanish Club were initiated at a banquet at which Mexican food was served. An old X alle' lg , , -. - . . , . I f ' : it q ft TRADITION . . . Greg Talley and Bill Vandermeer carry out the tradition of breaking the pinata at the Spanish Club initiation. 42 ,,4 i , it it ,Y , R .... ,Y ,,,4,-,,,., , Spanish tradition, breaking the pinata, was also a highlight. A main- project of the Latin Club was its Roman Banquet. Ideas for the banquet were solicited from neighboring schools. The Spanish and French Clubs were under the direction of Mrs. Vandermeerg Mr. Lydick sponsored the Latin Club. CONFERENCE . . . Second Row: Susan Dunn, Bonnie Daniel, Judy Blackford, Brenda Aldrich, Margaret Jasper, Rita Robinson, Early in the school year I5 students passing the rigid requirements of National Honor Society were initiated as new members. They were chosen by faculty members who evaluated eligible students on character, leadership, scholarship, and service. New members were announced at a tapping service in the auditorium. Later a formal banquet and initiation were held. eff-Q Joyce McCarter, Cindy Dorrell, Barbara Deer. Third Row: Janice Jenkins, Phil Howard, Bill Bullock, Mike Worrell, Tom Webb, Donnie Stropes, Alex Girdley, Keaney Sloop, Sandra Henderson. Among the Society's projects was building a case for displaying the names of honor roll students. The Society also planned the presentation of awards on Honor Night. Honor Society activities were under the direction of Carol Whitaker, president, Jim Featherston, vice- president, Patty Gregg, secretary, Judy King, treasurer, and Mr. Morrison, sponsor.
