Members must rank in the top third of their class and must have made an outstanding contribution to school publications. The third annual Quill and Scroll initiation banquet was held in March, following a tapping ceremony during a convocation. Jerrold K. Footlick, education writer for The Indianapolis Times, spoke at both events. Four seniors members-Beck Gaddy, Carol Whit- aker, Carolyn Stutzman, and Judy West-were in charge of the initiation and tapping ceremonies. Mrs. Miles is Quill and Scroll adviser. The Troianeer was pub- lished by a small but enthusiastic iournalism class. With the co-ordinated efforts of Becky Gaddy, editor, and Judy King, associate editor, and the in- struction of Mrs. Miles, adviser, the T963 yearbook staff worked diligently to complete The Trojan by the February I5 deadline. Center Grove journalists took part in several TEAMWORK . . . Kenny Roach, sports editor, receives suggestions from gal reporters Sharon Sears, Joyce McCarter, and Janet Barnes. conventions and institutes during the year. Repre- sentatives from both staffs attended the Indiana High School Press Association Convention at Franklin Col- lege in October. Judy West carried out her duties as executive board member, and Mrs. Miles was elected secretary of the I.H.S.P.A. faculty division. Becky Gaddy and Judy King spent two weeks during the summer at Indiana University Journalism Institute. Staff members ended the year with the annual party at the home of their adviser. They were chosen by faculty members who evaluated eligible students on character, leadership, scholarship, and service. New members were announced at a tapping service in the auditorium. Among the Society's projects was building a case for displaying the names of honor roll students. The Society also planned the presentation of awards on Honor Night. Honor Society activities were under the direction of Carol Whitaker, president, Jim Featherston, vice- president, Patty Gregg, secretary, Judy King, treasurer, and Mr. Morrison, sponsor.
