A wide variety of mathe- matical subiects provides Center Grove students with a diversified curriculum. These subiects include algebra, advanced algebra, plane geometry, general mathe- matics, business arithmetic, and college mathematics. In college math, taught by Mrs. Clements, students learn more about advanced math such as solid geometry, trigonometry, and college math which includes calculus and analysis. These students are planning careers centered around mathematics. Pupils in geometry, algebra, and college math obtain extra credit through the construction of mathe- matical projects. Miss McMahon, who formerly taught in the Labora- tory School at Iowa State College, introduced a new method of teaching math by eliminating the use of textbooks. Students in her classes work on special problems on mimeographed sheets which are distributed each day. Other math teachers include Mr. Legan, Mr. Sloop, Mr. Steward, and Mr. Robey.
