It was through the efforts and foresight of these community-minded people that we are able to enjoy some of the finest school facilities to be found in the state of Indiana. We, as well as future generations, will always be indebted to the Center Grove Building Corporation, as a representative of White Rive Township, for providing these opportunities so that we might become better citizens and live a well-rounded life. 3 MEMORY OF RCDNNIE CARTER Although his years were few, his memory will always live in our hearts. Therefore, we, the Senior Class of 1958, with deepest respectand admiration for his youthful friendship, dedicate this page to the vivid memory of Ronnie Carter, 4 ,x .QQ . if 'zz R KM? .. MR, VANDHIMEER as CLASSWH I STGRY These are the facts, kids, nothing but the facts. The time was 8:00 a.m., September 9, 1946, the place -- Center Grove. Our gal Friday, Mrs. Ruth Cook, gave us instructions for our first year. The starting line-up now ready to graduate are: Marvin Baker, Frances Browning, Rosemary Perkins, Beverly Plummer, Nancy Puckett, Mary Ellen McTarsney, Pat Taylor, Jane Dowden, Lois Weaver, Mary Jane Wray, Nancy Beck, Joe Parker, David Schroeder, Ronnie Utterback, and Bob Van Dyke. During the next five years, Pat Nation, Russell Dowden, Bruce Hammersley, Carol Harrell, Phillip Tinkle, Larry Roberts, Gary Payne, Jerry Stewart, J. C. Robards, Bob Matillo, and Ruel West became members of our gang. These years were spent in diligent study?? Junior High, a new phase of the routine, brought about class officers, athletics, cheerleaders, and PROBLEMS. During these two years we admitted Sandy Bennett, Don Bennett, Sandy Beckham, Marcia Brazee, Norma Scherer, Myron Hedger, Betty McClain, Carl Carpenter, and Ronnie Haywood into our squad. Our Freshman year started off with a BANGII The Senior firing squad, armed with paddles, initi- ated our Freshman group, which included the new members Lee McGinnis, Tom Smith, Danny Saunders, Mary Ogle, Sue Aldrich, Jerry Gillespie, and David Zurschmeide. Our leaders for that year were: Presi- dent, Mike Heinyg Vice-President, Erma Inabnittg Secretary - Treasurer, Joe Parkerg Student Council, Carol Harrell. The Sponsors were Mrs. Ford and Mr. Friedersdorf. The yell leaders for the Fresh- man crew were Nancy Puckett, Erma Inabnitt, and Mary Ellen McTarsney. Among the Sophomore files we find some new names: Carolyn Dempsey, Rita Parish, and Rose Shortt. Nancy Puckett led the Booster Block, while the team, including some members of our class, Phil Tinkle, Bob Van Dyke, Ruel West, Bob Matillo, and Carol Harrell, did a fine job. They proved their skill and ability by helping to win the County Tourney that year. The leaders of the Sophomore clan were: President, Rosemary Perkins: Vice-President, Marcia Brazee: Secretary - Treasurer, Frances Brown- ing: and Student Council, Bruce Hammersley. Our Sponsor was Mr. Friedersdorf. During our Junior year at old C. G. our mob, with its new members, Kenny Woodall, Thomas Hoff- man, Faye Beasley, and Sue Barks, hauled in a lot of loot from the Concession Stand. Although this was hard work, we enjoyed it, realizing that this dough would send us to New York and Washington D. C. We received our class rirgs on November 12. Our ringleaders for this year were: President, Carol Harrell: Vice-President, Jerry Stewart: Secretary, David Schroederg Treasurer, Ronnie Haywoodg and Student Council, Gary Payne. The two head bosses were Mrs. Davis and Mr. Shutt. Our Senior syndicate recognized Bonnie Michalek and Beverly Smith as new members of our circle. Our pictures were taken by Porters Studio to be hung in the corridor of old C. G. The main events of our Senior year were the trip to Washington D. C. and New York and the Junior - Senior Prom. The big wheels for our crowd this year were: President, Rosemary Perkins, Vice-President, Bruce Ham- mersley: Secretary - Treasurer, Beverly Plummer: and Student Council, Phil Tinkle. The Sponsors were Mrs. Davis and Mr. Vandermeer. The time was 8:00 p.m., May 22, 1958: the place -- Center Grove. We were all waiting to hear the verdict of His Honor, Mr. Wilson. We were very happy, yet a little sad to hear his words, After 12 years of hard labor, you, the Seniors of 1958, have been found worthy to graduate from this insti- tution. As you go out into the world, remembering what you have learned here, you must join the struggle to make this a better world in which to live. And that's our aim. Yes, these are the facts, kids, nothing but the facts. This case is closed. Frances Browning and Rosemary Perkins. AW w':,,vw,g,,W ,,- , . .
