The history of our class starts in September, 1942, when we were all wondering what the school life' was going to have in store for us. Seventeen of our graduating twenty-nine started together under the direction of Mrs. Ruth Cook. They are Dorothy Achgill, Alberta Baker, Kay Browning, Janice McCammon, Dick Calvert, Bill Walker, Beverly Robin- son, Maxine Tinkle, Dale Hardin, Forrest Herron, Cawlyn Zsohiedrich, Nina Kiphart, George Harrell, Joyce Sutton, Charles Stewart, and Clint Dewbrew. During the next eight years we gained several members who include Pat Doughty, Oren Demaree, Jean Pat- terson, Pat Pearcy, Margie Kerr, Philip Ennis, and David Haines. We started high school with much enthusiasm. Quite a few of the boys made the basketball team. Dick Calvert honored our class by being crowned king of the carnival. -This freshmen year meant many new activities for us. Among these were the initiations of Hi-Y and Sunshine. We all dreaded these initiations but are proud to be part of the organizations. Mr. Byrd was our class sponsor. During this year we gained Pat Strouse, Jackie Rees, Jim Smith, Bob Slevin, Arvine Surface, and Jo Burdine. Those that left 'our class were Dude Baker, Jim Hawley, Lily Garner, Martha Wells, and Phyllis Weise. We started our sophomore year with thirty-seven class members. Rollie Manley was crowned king of the carnival. We gained Carl Beard, John Rutherford, Jack DAY. Jean Susemichel, and Martha Pratt. Those that left were Jackie Rees, Arvine Surface, Bob Slevin, Martha Pratt, and Donna McGowen. Our class officers were Dick Calvert, Presidentg Kay Browning, Vice Presidentg Dorothy Achgill, Secretary and Treasurerg Bill Walker, Student Council Representative, Mrs. Vera Fulmer was our sponsor. Our junior year was started with one thought in mind, Our Washington Trip . We enjoyed the junior con- cessions although we didn't have a gym. We elected our officers as follows: Dick Calvert, Presiden tg David Haines, Vice President Janice,McCarnmon, Secretary and Treasurerg Kay Browning, Student Council Representa- tive. Bill Walker was elected President of the Student Council. Those we gained at the first of the year were Sherrel Aldrich, and Gayle French. Those who left were, Jo Burdine, Linda Core. Almedia Kincaid, and Frances Doty. Mrs. Voland was our class sponsor and helped us to earn, money for our trip. We took ourunforgettable trip the last of April and we wish to thank everyone for making it possible for us to go. Maxine Tinkle, Pat Strouse, and Nina Kiphart did a fine job leading our cheering section. We started the last lap of our journey with twenty-nine class members. We lost Jean Susemichel but gained June Moore. We elected officers as follows: Dick Calvert, Presidentg John Rutherford, Vice Presidentg Dorothy Achgill, Secretaryg Joyce Sutton, Treasurerg Maxine Tinkle, Student Council Representative. KayBrowningwas elected President of the Student Council Mr. Wilson was our class sponsor. Maxine Tinkle, Nina Kiphart and Forrest Herron, were elected cheer leaders. As graduation time approaches, we are looking forward to making a place in the world for ourselves, but we reluctantly leave our Alma Mater. d'fc,la4J 5 .N i ,ADJ L erin: m 4 Pk' 3 'J 1W A- .H ,LL,f .,- wwissv .,:1Mg,,,i ,T W i fx ff, +, k ak , :wifi f, f fs, ,. , LQAV azl.. We X wwiii ' A . FQ Aw, gi fs. if may .,,. J, 1 K f' 'lY'Fl Ten wonderful years have passed since I graduated from the great school, Center Grove. I entered college in Greenland and who d1d I fmd there but the great Prof John Rutherford. We started working in the field of Science The space ship had been invented and some people of Mars were causing some trouble on earth. Prof Rutherford the Second Sherlock Holmes Phil Ennis and myself started on our journey to find out the trouble We first went to the U S to get the facts We talked to the President of the U. S., Clint Dewbrew. He told us the men we were hunting stayed around Jive joints We learned that the gang was headed by two of our school mates Sherrel Aldrich and David Haines We then went to New York on Fifth Avenue to Bill s Bar and who did we find but one ofour basket- ball stars Bill Walker He said he didn t know anything about the gang and that maybe we could go to the pool hall which was run by Kay Browning and her s1x boys From her we learned that David was interested in a certam bubble dancer Pat Strouse who worked at the Manhattan Inn on Seventeenth Street We talked to her and she had not seen him for qu1te a while She told us if we talked to her boss Dorothy Achgill, that we might find out more Dorothy then told us that there were two more girls connected with the gang These girls lured the sctentific men of the U S into giving out information to the people of Mars. The girls names were Janice McCammon and Jean Patterson Dot told us the gang was getting ready to go back to Mars We made ready for our trip and who should we see when we stopped for fuel but the great jet pilot, Margie Kerr We asked her if she would like to come along and she said, Yes . We left the field and the arrhne hostess, Joyce Sutton, gave us very good meals. The Prof. got sick and the nurse, Pat Doughty, was of very much help. When we were almost there we tried to contact Mars, and who should we find talking to us but another school mate, Maxine Tmkle. She said to be careful, because two of our gener a ls were held captive. They were Dick Calvert, and Oren Demaree. We arrived and landed in a grove of trees, took our ammunition, and started for the castle that the gang was hiding in. Who should we find pacing up and down in front of the castle but Carl Beard and Dale Harden. We didn't know what to do. Just then we heard a noise, and a small boy appeared all dressed in ragged clothes. It was George Harrell, and he said he could lead us to the underground tunnel. We had to knock out a guard, Charlie Stewart, and let the prisoners loose. Then we started up the stairs to the castle. We had just gotten into the main hall when two girls appeared as space women, Alberta Baker and June Moore. They screamed and our men grabbed them and held their mouths. We then tied the girls up and put them in a room and left them and went on to the King's throne and found Forrest Herron and Pat Pearcy, all dressed in robes and jewels. They were scared to death. The maids, Pauline Hadley and Carolyn Zschiedrich, were screaming. We captured them and just then we heard a noise. David and Sherrel were returning with the gang. The men ran out and captured them, too. We took them back to Greenland with us and DUI them in prison for life. We then returned to the U. S. without friends. Everyone had an exciting adventure, and we were glad to be back on earth and watch T. V. stars, Nina Ktphart and Roy Rogers in The Bandits Return To Earth .
