Broadcasters Josephine Moncrief and Tammy McDaniel constitute the Broadcasters of Centennial High School. Every morning they read the daily bulletin over the loud- speaker, bringing the school’s news and announcements to the student body. Reading alone or as a duo, Josephine and Tammy provide a daily service to Centen- nial. Picture: Joi and Tam pose over the tools of their trade. Students who are members of Ju- nior Achievement learn more about business by running their own cor- poration. They buy and sell stocks in their corporation and sell a product to the public. The goals of the Principal Scholars Program are to enchance miniority students’ academic potential, to in- crease student participation in strong academic courses, and to broaden the students’ awareness of career choices. Some of the ongoing activities of PSP include: monthly career orientation meetings at the U of I campus, aca- demic contests, and field trips to col- lege campuses and industrial sites. PSP also has sponsored fundraising activities in order to offer their first college scholarship in May, 1985.

Thespians Thespian Playmakers Troupe 1043 is affiliated with the International Thespian Society, the largest drama organization in the free world. The Playmakers stage three major productions each year. This year’s titles were Ten Little Indians, Spectrum 1986, and The Wizard of Oz. Becoming a Thespian requires one hun- dred hours of participation in any of the following areas: acting, set construction, make-up, lighting, costume design, and other theatrical arts.
