Each day the attend- ance office secretaries, Mrs. Griffet and Mrs. Munds, keep state attendance records along with the many attendance office duties. The main office secretaries, Mrs. Tate, Mrs. Johns, and Mrs. Summers, who is office manager, keep Administrative paperwork in order aside from their other secretarial duties. Mrs. Fleener, coun- seling office secretary keeps the counseling office going. 1. Mrs. Summers — Main Office and Office Manager 2. Mrs. Griffet — Attendance Office 3. Mrs. Johns — Main Office 4. Mrs. Munds — Attendance Office 5. Mrs. Tate — Main Office 6. Mrs. Fleener — Counseling Office 27 Discipline Is Caring Pride and spirit are just two words used to express Centennial students’ enthusiasm. Mr. Davis, our principal, was greatly impressed with the student involvement this year. Mr. Davis, Mr. Griggs, assistant principal, and our two deans, Mrs. Storch and Mr. Wiseman, have been success- ful in keeping our new four year high school sys- tem going. Increased attendance has made more work for all of the administration. To make sure you are in class where you should be, Mrs. Storch and Mr. Wiseman have been efficient. Mr. Griggs keeps the school activities calendar up to date and Mr. Davis sees to the successful overall oper- ation. Our thanks should be given to our adminis- tration for all of their support and enthusiasm. A. Mr. Davis — Principal B. Mrs. Storch — Dean of Students 28 Dr. Marshall K. Berner, Superintendent of Unit 4. The Board Of Education The Unit 4 Board of Education had an extremely busy year. With such talent on this year’s team the long, hard August double-sessions paid off. “Improve week by week” as Coach Davis said many a times during the season is exactly what the team did. As the tradition has been all through the years at Centennial, Coach Davis and his coaching staff did an excellent job in coaching the talent the guys had this year. With a 7-2 record of which Centennial is very proud and just one touchdown away from the play-offs, the Chargers produced seven all-con- ference players; Mark Hartman, the only Char- ger named' both offense and defense, Brian Vizek, John Clark, Tim Millage, Jim Miller and Mike Carroll, who was only 5 yds. away from the 1000 yard mark in rushing, which placed him 1st in the school’s rushing history for a junior. Jim Button also made the all-conference second team. Placing on the All-State team is a great honor. Mike Carroll was named on the second team and Mark Hartman, Jim Miller, and Tim Millage were named Honorable Mention. Congratula- tions guys; Centennial is very proud of you! Coach Macek knows he can trust Mark Hartman to carry out a special assignment. Tony Marcott takes a moment to catch his breath before returning to the ‘grid iron’! The Pep Club has that responsi- bility all through the year. The annual chili supper and sponsor- ing the fan buses for away games is only part of their activ- ities. The Pep Club started an information bulletin board, located outside the athletic office; the bulletin board is a helpful reminder of upcoming sports events and school activi- ties. Attendance at the Pep Club meetings is high and their pres- ence is known at all school games. Pep Club keeps our spirits high. The fall play, Spectrum, and the musical are the three main productions which occupy most of their time and effort. As an International society, Thespians are recognized as a high quality performing organization. Conservation Club Nature hikes and similar kinds of field trips were common practice for conservation club members. One such “Field trip” was to Devil’s Lake, Wis- consin, for cross country skiing. The Conservation Club’s endangered species for the year was the wolf. The club had T-shirts made up with a wolf on the front. With the help of our Student Council the Conservation Club sponsored Earth Week, and the highlight of the year the all-school paper-drive which lasted the second semester. Homecoming activities were exciting and each stu- dent was involved with the spirit of the upcoming game. The Annual National Honor Society Bonfire was held the night preceding the game. The rock group of Cen- tennial’s own students “Sphinx” was the highlight of the evening. The day of Homecoming, mums were distributed by the band members as a way for the student population to send Homecoming greetings to their friends and acquaintances. The Student Council held an intense assembly, past Homecoming kings of Centennial and past cheerleaders came to help keep the spirit of Home- coming high. The candidates for Homecoming queen were presented with their escorts, and the Senior Girls Council (Interserve) performed a skit. After school, the floats were judged in their respec- tive class competition and the Seniors proudly took first place. Decorated cars, bikes and floats all took their pos- itions, and the Homecoming parade was underway and a large success. The Pep Club Chili Supper was held after the Varsity Show and then the game we all had anticipated was nearing. The Chargers were renowned in their perform- ance on the field and the game was a spirited success. At halftime DeDe Fileccia was crowned as Homecoming Queen by Melonie Ignasiak, ’77-78 queen. The Homecoming Dance ended the week of activities and it too was a success. Mark Hartman reigned as our Homecoming King. And when completed, the excite- ment of the week lingered on to be remembered by all those participating in Homecoming activities. 104 Jingle Bells Left to Right: Arleen Adams, Wendy Bell, Denise Hyde, Mary Karich, Linda Kuo. Ill 112 w- ■ - ■ Seniors Make It To The Top As the year draws to a close there are different altitudes taken by seniors. One of happiness, getting away from teachers, homework and finals. But for some it is a feeling of sadness, leaving the place where they have spent three years; separating from friends and looking on to the future. The long hard hours working on the Homecoming float finally paid off with a first place. As the seniors flip their lassies at graduation, Cen- tennial will lose a fine group of students and people. Their efforts in fund raising projects have been dominate. Money from magazine sales and candy cane sales have all been directed towards the big Junior project — Prom. This year the class of ’80 produced an “exciting and different” kind of Prom. We want to recognize the Junior class as a strong group of students who want to get things done. Front: Todd Manley — vice president. Back: Mark Neuman — treasurer, Mrs. Davis — sponsor, Rose Anne Forrester — secretary, Nancy Cleland. The Junior class gets involved in Homecoming with their “Electrocute Eisenhower” float. 146 Susie Schweighart, Mark Nueman, and Nancy Cleland help get the new year started.
