MUSIC, HOME EC.: Ureaiive Gzlcwzfs llfzlzled Fruit Pizza. . . Chocolate Chip Waffles. . . Bullseye Eggs. . . and Thumb Print Cookies would make any connoisseurs' mouth Water. That is the reaction of many students en- rolled in the Home Economics program. This program helps students acquire many useful skills to be used at home and in family situations--plus, the reward of sampling a Well prepared meal! The music department of Centennial en- courages the students to increase their knowledge and enjoyment of music, and pro- vides the opportunities to perform in the areas of singing playing and listening Both choir and band classes performed in several festivals and concerts Many music students participated in the spring musical The Sound of Music Trips were planned by the groups to culminate the year s activi- ties Mrs. Kathy Morgan

ACADEMICS fCllW Day auuched Education 75 Learning through read ing, listening, seeing and hearing Involve ment The key to interest and enthusiasm Within the classroom Courses offered at Centennial combined both Field trips, speakers, films and tapes enriched the classroom experience The Social Studies Department conducted tours of ESCO Corporation and the Trojan Nuclear Power Plant journalism classes attended seminars at Portland State University and Mt Hood Community College Building Construction classes completed their house GRASP placed people temporarily in Work ing situations geared toward their indivi dual interest and intended careers The Music Department performed in several concerts and festivals Stocks were pur- chased and evaluated by Business and Social Studies classes Plays were present- ed by English classes, rockets launched by Science students Law Day was introduced to Centennial in April The seminar included several contemporary topics Speakers, represent- ing all aspects of the law, directed discus- sions, gave demonstrations, and provided insight and answers to timely questions The program was considered a huge suc- cess by students and teachers. The variety of activities offered in the classroom insured a stimulating learning environment and gave the student practical, realistic experience. Xi
