GIRLS TRACK Sw Crave! in mic' The hard Working girls Who stuck out those long hard practices ended up With a 6 l record The only loss was to Gresham The season started out with a few injuries, and illnesses, but once it was all together they came back on May track meet The absence of the seniors, Laura Jones, Joanne Keup, Barb Hansen, Cindy Struck, and Unni Krogstad will be felt next year Six girls Went to state this year Barb Hansen Cmile, 8803 Cindy Curths C440 880 medleyj Laura jones fl00 yd 880 medley, J Joanne Keup Cjavelin, discusb Genevera Carlson, and Mary Edmeades C880 medleyj 23rd, and took lst place at the district 7 1. Della McGuire and Kelly Gaylord discuss their hand-off's just before the race. 2. Cheryl Pierce clears 4'11 for a new school record. 4. Coaches, Diane Stewart, and Chelinda Dettorre add up points to another victory while Laura jones listens intensely. 5. Brenda Hedges, and Teri Adkins whiz over the hurdles. 6. T E N N I S : youth Dcfmzmztrfs ,411 Teams The young and generally inexperi- enced Varsity Tennis squad ended the season with a 9-5 Win-loss record Brant Barshaw and Steve Rex led the team with 8-3 league records Dan Trevarthen placed fourth in the District tournament and continued on to state Where he finish- ed among the top twelve Said Coach Dean Pade, They lived up to my preseason predictions. With only one senior, jerry Enten- men, leaving the team, and sophomore Brant Barshaw, juniors Steve Rex and Dan T revarthen all returning, the future could be enhanced. As Coral I-Iiscoe and Debbie McCord Were the only graduating members of the girls tennis team, youth prevailed throughout the ranks. Singles players included Kassie Koch and Tara Lee Ness as Well as the two seniors. The team finished the season with 3 Wins and 8 losses in league play, but with so many girls returning, next years team looks promising, enhancing even. 1. Girls Varsity tennis team, STANDING: Debbie McCord, Michelle Lawrocki, Gloria Hasbun, Leeanne Worthington, Peggy Fields. KNEELING: Coral Hiscoe, Kassie Koch, Tara Lee Ness. 2. Concentration and form make Tara Lee Ness' forhand very consistent. 3. Girls j.V. team, STANDING: Michelle Popma, Cris Hiscoe, Terri White, Paula Sutton, Verleta Sudul, Barbara Ruhlin. KNEELING: Kay Porter, Darla Finley, Beth Heinrich, Karla Finley, Kim Porter.
