FROSH BLUE SCORE S Barlow Clackamas Ogden Hood River Reynolds The Dalles Wy East The Dalles Barlow Reynolds Gresham Wy East The Dalles 7 JV. 81 FROSH BASEBALL. llvufhful Zfcams Domzmzte The I V team under Coach Johns and assisted by coach Lund had a Very success- ful year maybe not record wise but the players still had fun The season was high- lighted by the closeness of their games losing to Lakeridge Tigard and Reynolds by a total of four runs The team was led by junior Mark O Toole and sophomores Len Hawkins and Doug Grant The two freshman teams under Coaches Wagner and johnson had equally successful ning season in fact the winningest base ball team at Centennial They ended up with a 13 and 3 win-loss record and in doing that they beat the Dalles twice a very rare happening for any team The freshman teams were highlighted by a no hit pitching performance by Steve Kilness an extra inning ball game won by Centennial 1 to O against The Dalles and a clean sweep of Wy East- Hood River by the blue team Some outstanding frosh baseball players were Steve Kilness Cory Krum and Rob Norton 14 , , ' 9 O 9 . 14 ' 25 Gresham 13 seasons. VARSITY TRACK young Ccam Prospers The team though young and inexperi enced d1d come up With a respectable 5 l W1n loss record This included a surprising upset of behemoth Rex Putnam and a f1rst place ln the Centennial Invitational bringing the trophy home again after a three year drought The seniors though few 1n number contributed greatly to the outcome of many an otherwise close meet Tim Hanley shone all year in the sprlnts and Bob Field was points in everything from the 440 to the half mile Not to be outshown Dave Roentz John LaMa1n and Duane Fmaas performed Well in the pole vault throwing events and long Jump respectively Underclassmen adding needed support included sophomore dlstancemen Gene Stone and Alan Roberts Who comblned for a very strong unit junior Greg Calhoun proved his Worth by qualifying for the State meet in the high hurdles and sophomore joe Abbott and Junior Mike Hedrick were both consistent 6 foot high Jumpers , . .- , - ' 9 . D . . , . able to contribute more than his share of U 1 Q 9 P D I , . D 1 Intense power is evident as john LaMain lets go with a mighty heave in the shotput ring 2.
