Gresham during their three round battlegheld at Centennial. rapplers gain best season ever, O'Donnell wins third in state The wrestling squad improved on its 7-14 mark of last year, by turning the wins and losses around to come out 15-7. The tournaments seemed to be the best for the eagles as they won the Springfield Tournament and placed second in the South Albany and the Centennial Tournaments. The outlook for the future seems to be bright indeed as the freshman helped the second varsity to a 27-1 record, the best at Centennial for wrestling. As Coach Russo said they filled in the vacant spots enabling us to wrestle our best against their best and beat them. Outstanding freshman who wrestled for the varsity were joe Remillard, Mike Brewton, Ed French, Lynn Settle, Bob Summers, and David Mestrovich. The Eagles placed the most men in the history of Eagle wrestling into the district wrestling meet, as nine wrestlers placed. They were Dan O'Donnell who placed first at sub-district and third at the state meet, Norm Cleveland who placed first at sub-district at 178 pounds, Steve Vice who placed second at heavy- weight, jerry Hansen also took a second at 178 pounds. Outstanding varsity wrestlers were Mike Hedrick and Bob Summers at 98, john Ballard at 130 pounds, Chris Carl- son at 141 pounds, Dave Hachyia at 168, Norm Cleveland at 178, Dan O'Donnell and heavyweight Steve Vice.
