Richard Muhle Home Economics' ever expanding cirriculum ac- commodated more students than ever before. More flavor was added with a variety of new se- mester courses offered including Sewing with Knits and Child Development. Bachelor Living was still going strong in its second year and looked as if it was to become a permanent class offered to the guys of Cen- tennial. Centennial's music de- partment helped produce the spring musical Hello Dolly. The fall concert featured a new sound. For the first time, the concert choir performed as a speaking chorus. They sang or spoke a number entitled, Valse. The Gresham Band and choral festivals were held in Centennial's auditorium. Captive audiences were re- warded by fine perfor- mances. ACADEMICS 147

Hiram Crane Tony Russo Physical Education: Dean Pade Girls Try Yoga for Health Freshmen,Boys Build Biceps 142 ACADEMICS Girls in junior-Senior PE got a taste of the Far East when Linda Young, a Cen- tennial graduate, taught the fundamentals of yoga. The course, a special part of the curriculum, was designed to show the students another type of bodily exercise. Freshmen boys PE includ- ed team sports, weight train- ing, and swimming. Fresh- man girls had a year of ex- 'ercise, swimming, track, and -4 ff' if 1 4' vl, 1 V ' 3: ' 4 -:il Dan Brisbin games. Dance routines and gymnastics completed the year. One semester of PE is required for sophomores. Coed lifetime games taught included golf, tennis, arch- ery, bowling, and swimming. Included in the health curriculum are personal hygiene, ecology, sex ed- ucation, first aid, mental health and drug education.
