LANGUAGE ARTS Centennial's language department, which includes French, Latin, and Span- ish, was active throughout the year spon- soring such activities as a pinata party, the Roman Banquet, and a French dinner. Through proiects such as these, students acquire a broader understanding and gain a better view of different countries and their culture as well as the language. Records, tapes, and visual aids are be- coming an important factor in teaching these students the various foreign tongues. Foreign language students participated in a language field day sponsored by the University of Oregon at Eugene this spring. Barbara Peterson leads her English class in teaching the correct way to wrife letters. Freshman students use tape recorder in lean correct French phonetics

Mr Grundfossen tells his students about Asiatic Sarmatia The subject included under the title social studies are treated with skill and interest by competent C.U.H.S. faculty members. These courses are designed to help pre- pare students to make responsible decisions when they are faced with the role of citizen after graduation. There are two years of required study-U. S. history and American problems. Several other choices are offered for those interested, includ- ing geography and world history. Mrs Roberts American Problems class views a film on racial discrimination.
