VARSITY CROSS COUNTRY TRACK Centennial entered the cross-country wars this year with an outstanding varsity team. The Eagle Stalwarts were led by senior Tom Walsh who placed 4th in the District meet and 8th in the State run. Other outstand- ing runners were junior Darris Larson and sophomore Ray Anderson. Bob Andrews, Bob Cornutt, Greg Stuart. The Baby Eagles had a banner season this fall giving the entire football picture at Centennial a brighter side. Coach Haller and Grant's charges were big and tough and when the occasion de- manded rose to great football heights. Standouts in the Fresh- man football picture were quar- terback Joe Carbonari and full- back Jerry Evans. As all three squads, plus the B team, saw plenty of action, it is hoped that some of the Eaglets will make the varsity next year. FRESHMAN FOOTBALL B

Purkeypile rebounds against the Gophers. VARSITY BASKETBALL The first year of varsity competition proved to be a tough one for Centennial's basketball team. Lacking real depth at cru- cial times in many games worked to the Eagles' disadvantage. Most of the team load was carried by seniors Ron Duquette, Gene Purkeypile, and high-scoring Doug Manley. Biggest surprise of the season was the outstanding work done by Art Coughlin who before this season had not seen any varsity experience.
