FRENCH CLUB The French Club spent most of the first semester planning and producing the annual French Cabaret. It was a lot of hardy work, but everyone felt that it was worthwhile because it was such a big success. Remember how amazed everyone was when they saw the huge gym transformed as if by magic into a low, dusky cabaret? There were just enough little round tables for each girl and her date, and the music and entertain- ment was lots of fun. Those darling cigarette girls with their bouncy red, white, and blue skirts added much to the atmos- phere! The French Club members have also knitted a lot of socks, sweaters, and baby sacks for the French War Relief. We really enjoyed doing it and are proud of the large box of knitted garments that is all packed and ready to be shipped away. Some has been hard work but fun, too! Ever try Informa- tion Please in Spanish as we did at a couple of our meetings? The Spanish Club was started by Genevieve Diaz last year, with the aid of Papa La Motte. This year the club has Miss Goddin as its very able advisor. at Did you ever stop to think that all South Americans aren't tall, dark, and lazy? just as those are fallacies, we found out that all North Americans are thought to be blonde, blue eyed, and freckled! I At Christmas, the different holiday customs of Mexico, Puerto Rico and Panama were presented by Miss Goddin, Genevieve, 7 and Velma, respectively. A A series of lectures were given on the cultures of the different Latin American countries. Don't think for a minute that the fall breezes i fg prevented us from having the traditional hot-dog roast before Qi ,Q we climbed into the hay and started our journey back to M Centenary, singing all the way home. if X. , Buck Hill, here we come! was the cry of about sixty girls 23, who headed for the Poconos that weekend to enjoy the winter S:-in-I MUD!! sports. Skiing, skating, tobaggoning were the topics at school for many weeks to follow. One of the biggest events of this year was the Middle At- lantic International Relations Club Conference held at Mary- wood College in Scranton, Pennsylvania. THE CHORUS If the Chorus continues to grow as it has this past year, it will certainly soon be too big for Whitney Hall. At our first rehearsals, we discovered that we were too large a group to practice profitably together. Therefore, we became two choirs. Every other Sun- day the Freshman Choir sang the chapel service, and every other the Senior. iThe competition we gave each other did us good. However, the two choruses did not always sing separately. We joined forces the afternoon the Stevens Glee Club was here. What a concert that was! W We enjoyed hearing the Stevens group sing very much. We sang the last few chapel services together and did some of our favorites, Pilgrims Chorus and The Last Chord. Baccalaureate music was sung by the whole chorus also. But when Commencement rolled around, we Seniors were willing to bow out and let the Freshman Chorus sing our farewell. We've had a busy, happy year together. Best wishes for the continued success of the chorus we know and the one that is to come. ii I
