Someday A I a I Class History While sitting here trying to do my homework, I can not help but recall the many events of our four years at Cement City High School. We entered our Freshman year as meek little boys and girlsg but as the year went by, we changed a great deal and started to feel very important, almost like a big wheel in the school. h S nhomores helped us begin our Freshman year T e o- with a bang by initiating ue. We were covered from ear to ear with lipstickg dressed in funny clothes and 1 rded giggled incessantly all day long. The Sophomcres o it over us and we bowed continuously to them. We d1dn't 1 k it was very funny at the time, but as we look th n . back on it new we can't help but laugh at our crazy stunts. t ve well acquainted but we elected We were no ry our officers. They were as follows: President, Gerald Pelhamg Vice - President, Stanley Ferrisg Secretary, Shirley Zantopg Treasurer, Robert Williams. Our advisor was Hr. Miller. Since we were only under-classmen, our activities were limited. Our only money making project was aBingo party which was a great success. . As I recall, we entered our Sophomore year feeling like the biggest wheels oftheyear. We had been through the ropes before and were preparedto take on the Freshmen. t even e by initiat1ngtheFresh en and smearing We go ou ' g them from ear to ear with lipstick and making them bow to use ' . We were well acquainted by this time. We had had our classroom pranks, partiesp and our disagreements. Our class officers were: President, Imogene Hilliamsong President Robert Williamsg Secretary, Stanley Vice - Ferris: Treasurer, Gerald Pelham. Our advisor was Mr. Puffer. We were looking forward to our Senior Trip by this time and also thinking of the Junior-Senior Banquet we would be sponsoring to honor the Seniors. Our money aklng activities included selling pop at the baseball m ri ashow by Rew the Magician, an a games, sponso ng dance. nrsrosrg cosmrmnsn ,We thought our Junior year would be a bre wer eze BUT we e upper classmen and had the res o sib p n ility of, shall we say, teaching the lower classmen the high school man- ners and way of life. Our officers that year were: President, Malcolm Zeilmang Vice - President, Janice Kent, Secretary, Pat Surqueg Treasurer, Delores Choate. Our advisor was Mr Donovan. ' money making projects that year ' A o For we sold candy and popcorn at the basketball games, hadaturkey supper, and ham supper. At the two or three dances we had the music was furnished by George Pittman's Orchestra. We had a hayrlde followed by a record dance and a skating party at Sand Lake. On April M, we presented our big hit, 'IT'S A DATEU, for our Junior Play. Our Junior-Senior Banquet was our big event of the year. It was held at the Cascades C1 b H u ouse. We all participated in commencement, bacclaureate, and class night. AH!! At last our Senior Year was here, the year we had been waiting for. We were Seniors, the leaders of our school. Our class officers were: President, Pat Surque: Vice - President, Imogene Williamsong Secretary, Janice Kent: Treasurer, Delores Choate. Our advisors were Mr. Core and Mrs. O'Connor. - I We had a lot of money to make for our class trip. Our first money - making project was selling magazines subscriptions, which was a big success. After that we felt much encouraged and sold emblems, sweat shirts, and had candy sales. We also had a turkey supper and two dances. Our most enjoyable project was ourSeniorP1ay 'FEUDIN' OVER YONDERN, which was a huge success. We had another turkey supper. A In the middle of our Senior year, we decided that it would be very benif1c1a1I2u'the school, thestudents, and especially for the Class of 1953 to preserve its' memories in the form of a ' yearbook. The first annual in four years was produced--'THE WOLVERINE' of 1953. HISTORY, CONTINUED Our schedule for the remainder of school was full of activities. Our annual May Festival was held on May 8 with the annual choosing of a May Queen. We left on it D our long-awaited class trip May 18. We saw many po n s of interest, among which were Hashington ,D. C., The Naval Academy at Annapolis, and many beautiful places V 1 1 amon which were Norfolk, Jamestown, and in irg n a g Williamsburg. We all had a wonderful time but thought the time went much too quickly. Baccalaureate was held Sunday, May Zhe lbthe Cement City Baptist Church, our Class Night was h61dCK1TU6SdBy M 26. We Seniors presented.ashort play. The basket- HY ball and baseball awards were presentedto both the girls and boys. Graduation was held May27, in the Cement City Audl- t eaker . The torium. Mr. Milton Porter was our gues sp . thrill of walking up the aisle apparelled in our -, academic gowns was our final act, the climax of four years of work and play together. We shall always cherish our fond memoriesof Cement City High School.
