We found great enthus- iasm in the fraternity accompanied with good fellowship. We promoted this by various after-meeting activ- ities such as bowling, a light luncheon down town, or playing cards. Un May 7, we enjoyed a bowling tournament within the fraternity. In the early spring one of our broth- ers, Harry Bolles, was drafted into the armed forces while still in school. During the party which we held in his honor we were visited by two honorary members about to enter the servicc?I'fugene Anderson and Kenneth Gladd. The two new members whom we initiated this year are Robert Ribbing and Dewey Anderson both of whom we consider assets to our organization. We of the Sigma Gamma I'hi Fra- ternity wish to extend our best wishcS to the graduating class of '43, May success and happiness be theirs. 28 CHI SIGMA CHI Delta Sigma fhapter of the t'hi Sigma Chi Fraternity has had another very successful year. Many enjoyable meetings and par- ties were held. The annual banquet was held recently at Gretchens Kitch- en. Those present decided to make a news pamphlet to send to our mem- bers in the armed forces. We are very proud of the forty eight members of our organization serving in the armed forces. Last summer Delta Sigma Vhapter of t'hi Sigma t'hi had the honor of bringing nationwide attention to our school. .K poem dedicated to our mem- bers in the armed forces, written by Elton J. Seymour to he read at our annual banquet. was printed twice in the Jamestown l'ost-Journal where it attracted the attention of Ted hlalone. After obtaining Nr. Sey- mour's permission, Ted Malone read the poem on his coast to coast broad- cast. Before reading the poem Mr. Malone praised the fellowship of the fraternal organizations of Veloron High School which inspired this poem. The main purpose of Fhi Sigma f'hi is to strengthen the physical, moral, and intellectual being of its members. and we feel well satisfied with the progress we have made during the last year. Delta Sigma fhapter takes this opportunity to extend congratulations and best wishes to the class of forty three. l i Front row, left lo right: Roger Seager, VVillard Tibbetts, Zurh Faulkner.
