June came all Too quickly and wiTh iT, kindergarTen graduaTion. For This momenTous occasion The dismayed kindergarTeners were ouT- TiTTed as maypole dancers, and when Their songs and dances were compleTed, came The grand Tinale, The rhyThm band. Surviving The grueling ordeal oT Their TirsT commencemenT program They Tound Themselves propelled inTo The TirsT grade under The supervision oT Miss Cross and Miss Anderson. The TirsT year passed swiTTly, and when summer Time playdays were compleTed, Miss Anderson, Miss Pauline Anderson, and Miss ToTman underTook The Task oT Teach- ing Those mischievous youngsTers The TundamenTals OT learning. Third, TourTh, TiTTh, and sixTh grades came and passed by in quick succession. Among The various Teachers who Tried, someTimes vainly, To insTil some knowledge inTo Those youThTul minds were Miss ParkhursT, Mrs. Faulkner, and Miss Parker, who somehow survived The havoc caused by ThaT unpredicTable class desTined To become The class oT '42, When SepTember l936 arrived, sixTy-eighT subdued adolescenTs enTered The iunior high school. Somehow, Mrs. Dennison, Mrs. WhiTney, and Mr. PeTerson piloTed Them Through The nexT Two Treacherous years buT Then abandoned Them To The mercy of The high school. However, iT was a conTidenT group ThaT became The Freshmen Class The Tollow- ing year. Under The leadership oT Mr. Levine, The ChrisTmas assembly program, The main conTribuTion oT The Freshmen, was a huge success. However, ThaT day was desTined To remain in The memory oT The Tew Freshmen who didn'T escape iniTiaTion by The upperclassmen. Mrs. PorTer Took over The reins when The Sophomore year was reached. IT was Time ThaT The class began To Think abouT The TuTure. and consequenTly They chose To sell school supplies Tor a money making acTiviTy. This proved To be very isuccessful. CommencemenT week soon came and wiTh iT BaccaIaureaTe. AT This Time The Sopho- mores spread green arTiTicial grass over The sTage and sTeps and Tilled baskeT' aTTer- baskeT oT gorgeous spring Tlowers To be placed on The sTage. The place became a lovely bower of Tlowers. However, summer vacaTion had arrived once more and Tor a Tew weeks The class was again The careTree group oT Tormer years. All Too soon SepTember came' and wiTh iT The responsibiliTy oT The Junior year. Miss Schworm and Mr. McKay were chosen To guide The class Through The coming year. Money-making acTiviTies Tiour- ished, such as TTsh Tries and skaTing parTies. Proof oT The many. successes was The Junior-Senior Prom. For several days beTore, The commiTTees scurried abouT perform- ing Their various duTies: shorTly beTore, The school was Tilled wiTh blue balloons: The sTage became a resTTuI bower wiTh arTiTicial grass, lawn TurniTure, and scaTTered 5 flowers. Trellisses wifh masses of flowers covered fhe walls and made liffle nooks here and fhere. The scene was complefed by fhe soff music of fhe orchesfra and ihe gay laughing couples. ' Commencemenf decorafions were fhe final 'rask of fhe Juniors. Early fhaf Tues- day morning fhe nearby fields were filled with daisy pickers. Then many a long weary hour was spenf as we arranged fhe daisies and made fhe swords. Thai evening The fronf of fhe sfage was a bank of while daisies broken only by fhe green covered sfeps. The Junior girls in fheir pasfel frocks formed an arch wifh crossed swords of daisies. l-lowever, fhaf evening was soon complefed and The Juniors welcomed fhe few weeks of resf. If was once again Sepfember and room 202 was filled wifh fhe chaffer and laughfer of fhe new Senior Class. They chose Mrs. Hafch as class adviser. Time passed quickly and soon if was fime for fhe Senior play, The High School Mysferyf' This was an addifional link in fhe chain of successes. The Seniors leff fhe money mak- ing acfivifies fo fhe needy Juniors excepf for fhe sale of candy and ice cream. This added much fo fhe diminished Senior freasury and increased f-he presfige of fhe Class of '42, The year seemed fo fly by, and fhen came 'rhe Junior-Senior Prom once again. The Juniors lavishly enferfained fhe class, carrying ouf fhe spirif of fhe fimes wifh fhe pafriofic mofif. So fhe fime passed by unfil fhey complefed fhe final chap- fer of fheir hisfory as a class, and sfarfed on fheir individual hisfory wifh eager hearfs and daunfless courage. I3 W A, s. 124462, CLASS PRQPHECV I 'M so exciTedl I wonder if They will all come. IT's seven TwenTy-Tive now and The banqueT is To begin aT eighT. I never ThoughT Ten years ago This pledge we made To meeT again would ever become a realiTy. IT I had, I should never have Taken on The responsibiIiTy. Goodness! Is ThaT Edison LeRoy James is announcing? Well, he always was on Time. I don'T see how he does iT wiTh all his senaTorial duTies. I wonder who Those Tlashy people are geTTing ouT oT ThaT limousine? Why iT's AniTa WhiTcomb and John STormer, The Two greaTesT comedians oT screen and Tele- vision. I hardly Think ThaT dress oT AniTa's is suTTicienT, buT Then acTresses always do go To The exTreme. , Oh, There's DoroThy Bucklaew looking excepTionaIly Trim and neaT. She owns a very prosperous dress shop righT in JamesTown, and is The besT-known seamsTress, Tor who can sew like DoroThy? Now enTering The gaTe are Rosalie Hedberg and Grace Paolillo. They seem To be enjoying Themselves chaTTing over old Times. Grace is sTiII aT old Celoron High School Teaching music, and Rosalie is NBC's sTory Telling lady. You know The Type, abouT Goldilocks and The bears. Here comes William Adams up The sTeps. Now There's a man Tor you. The girls may noT make a hiT wiTh him, buT he surely can hiT The home runs Tor The DeTroiT Tigers. I can guess who This is coming on The moTorcycIe. Sure enough-Daniel EosTer, who has become an up-an-aT-'em sTaTe Trooper. Look aT him Tlash ThaT badge oT his aroulld. 5 Now who in The world could ThaT digniTied genTleman be? Yes, iT's AIberT Lund- gren, Tamous owner of The celebra+ed Du BoneT nighT club in Chicago. ThaT's IiTe for you, some change, some don'T. Now, I can Tell ThaT couple a mile away. IT's Dora Ferguson lnow Mrs. Eugene Andersonl and her beloved Jeep. Business hasn'T been Too good Tor Eugene, buT he needn'T worry: everybody needs an underTaker some day. Here come The Hanson Twins: They look as much alike as ever. I hear Janis and PhyIlis's employer sTiIl has Trouble Telling Them aparT. IT cerTainIy was a coincidence ThaT our class had Two seTs oT Hanson Twins. Audrey and Alden have never looked much alike, Though. I read somewhere ThaT Alden is a TirsT IieuTenanT in The Army and expecTing a higher appoinTmenT any Time now, and Audrey runs The only beauTy salon in Celoron. Speaking of beauTiesI Here come The former Caryl Carlson and Hazel Spencer. They gave up Their iobs as beauTicians To become Navy wives. Well, aT IeasT They have each oTher when Their husbands are roaming The seas. Talk abouT brawn and muscle! JusT look aT This boy! WhaT did Johnnie W- ever have ThaT Johnny Giess hasn'T goT? He's sole owner and only liTeguard aT The new condiTioned Celoron Beach. By The way. Bob Olson is sTilI in Celoron Park. Even Though he is manager, he sTiII likes To help ouT in The popcorn sTand. Could iT ,be Those blond babes? From The Tan ThaT woman has, iT's my beT she is Joyce See. She's now living in The Sunny SouTh and specializes in The phoTography of The Miami baThing beauTies. BeaTrice Carlson looks sweeT TonighT, doesn'T she? She makes a very aTTracTive and helpful skaTing insTrucTor aT The rink, and I guess her husband Thinks she's Tops as a housewiTe, Too. I4 I ThaT looks like Alan Sandberg arriving. He was voTed mosT likely To succeed and he cerTainly has proved his abiIiTy. He is now employed by The Obso-LeeT Build- ing Company, renowned archiTecTs. Every now and Then he geTs his drums ouT and beaTs ouT a Tew measures oT boogie-woogie iive. ThaT polished Tellow iusT coming in The door is Norman SwarT. I could recognize him righT away wiTh his wavy blond hair. He is a very succesTul poeT now, buT I hear he hasn'T given his dancing school up yeT. GeT a load oT This coming up The walk--.The mosT popular model in New York, and no oTher Than Audrey Zimmerman.
