Zmw Zfwtafcq In 1940 a large group of youngsters started therr educatronal careers wlth Mrs Ira Hunter as therr teacher Srx of these lrttle Cherubs havrng turned rnto Blue Devrls are frn shrng school together tl IS year They are Doug Armstrong Peggy Compton Nelda Davrs Betty Martrn Frances McM1chael and Dolores Ramerrz As the t1me passed we lost some of our classmates and garned others Dorothy Lake enterrng from Concord became one of us 1n the thtrd grade Our class was mcreased by f1ve rn the seventh grade those berng Joy Dell johnson Brlly Joe Jackson from Com merce Brlly Charles Grrffrs from Lane Brlly Ray Harrrs from Hrckory Creek and Claud ette Grantham from Wrchrra Falls Later we were favored wrth the enrollment of Ruth Maples from Wolfe C1ty rn the erghth grade and Bob Mayes and Nellre Scarborough from favers entered from Leonard and J R Hunt came from Caddo Mrlls Our class remarned the same unt1l our Junror year when Moaell Scarborough became our classmate Our class now numbers elghteen members Whrle we were rn the seventh and etghth grades our Halloween candrdate was crowned Lady 1n Wa1t1ng When we were rn the tenth grade our candrdate was elected Queen of Halloween For two years the Football boys have chosen therr sweetheart from our class E1ght of our glrls have been Dashlng Devrlettes These have served as Majorettes flag bearers yell leader drummer and squad members We have had lettermen on the football basketball and baseball teams Flve of our grrls were members of the basketball squad and one served as manager Each of the th1rteen g1I1S was a member of the Future Homemakers of Amerlca and the majorrty held an offtce In these past twelve years we have had wonderful teachers They have been patrent whrle we were tryrng to learn and proud after we d1d For every person connected wrth C H 5 there wrll always be a specral place rn the hearts of the benrors of 52 I ' i ' 1' . . .
