r While attending a youth camp in 1924, Rev. Mead C. Arm- strong recieved Christ as his Saviour, and in 1942 during spec- ial meetings in a small mission church in Tidioutc, Pa., he was called into the ministry. Mr. Armstrong received his Bachelor’s Degree from the Grove City College. Grove City, Pa., and he received his Master’s Degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1949. He served 13 years as a high school teacher in Eldred, Pennsylvania from 1929-31 and in Tidioutc, Pa. from 1931- 42. His heart was prepared for the call of God through corres- pondence courses from Moody Bible Institue and other in- tensive Bible studies which revealed to him the apostasy of the church of which he was a member. Because of his call to the gospel ministry, he resigned his teaching position in the public school and moved his family to Maine, New York and entered the Baptist Bible Seminary in September of 1942. Mr. Armstrong became the assistant to Dr. Emery H. Ban- croft, Dean of Baptist Bible Seminary, and Professor of Theo- logy, for the summer of 1944 and continued in this capacity until Dr. Bancroft’s homegoing in November. 1944. For the remainder of that year he taught Elemental and Systematic Theology and Christian Evidences at the same time fulfill- ing class requirements for his senior year. Upon graduation from Baptist Bible Seminary, June 4, 1945, he was invited to join the faculty as Professor of Theology. He was ordained to the Christian ministry by the First Baptist Church of John- son City, New York, June 18, 1945. He served at the Baptist Bible Seminary as Professor of Theology from 1942-1962; Registrar, 1947-62; and basketball coach. 1956-61. In 1960 he revised Dr. Bancroft’s Elemental Theology book, one of the texts used today by Ccdarville College. In March of 1962 Rev. Armstrong was called to the pas- torate of the First Baptist Church of Hallstead, Pennsylvania. He served in the Council of Ten of the Pennsylvania Associa- tion of Regular Baptists from 1963-67. He joined the faculty of Ccdarville College in September, 1967, where he has served with dedication to Christ and concern for the spiritual and academic welfare of of the students. Seven of his former students at B.B.S. are presently serving as faculty members of Ccdarville College. Two of his former students arc mem- bers of the staff and one is a member of the Board of Trustees. He counts it a high privilege to have had a part in the training of hundreds of choice servants of the Lord active in many areas of Christian endeavor all over the world. Through the years Mrs. Armstrong has prayed for and served with her husband, making his ministry for Christ a great blessing to many, both in the church and in the schools where he has served. It speaks well for the Armstrongs that all five of their children arc born-again Christians. Certainly, in light of the accomplishments of Dr. Mead Armstrong, it can be seen that he is well worthy of being a dedicant of the 1975 MIRACLE.

1 George L. Lawlor is a man whose godly influence has deep- ly touched the lives of many young Bible students. Living in and around Pennsylvania most of his life, he did not come to a saving knowledge of Christ until he was thirty years of age. Graduating with a music degree from Ithica College in 1929, his main interest and profession in the early years of his life was in the field of music. He played the clarinet and saxaphonc in various realms of musical work for almost twenty years. At the age of twenty-three he married Mildred Rex, and through the years they had three children. Mrs. Lawlor received Christ as her Savior two years before her husband. In 1938 through the prayers of many Christians and the witness of a pastor and evangelist in the Grace Breth- ren Group. George Lawlor received Christ also. The pastor faithfully worked with him and instructed him in the Word. By January of 1941 Lawlor felt the call of God to Grace Theological Seminary in Winona Lake, Indiana. He received his BD in 1944 and his THM in 1955. In the years between, he pastored four churches and taught in three Bible Institutes. The family suffered the loss of Mrs. Lawlor as wife and mother in 1951. After pastoring more churches, Lawlor came to Cedarvillc in 1957 where he has taught Greek, New Testament, and Contemporary Theology. He received his doctorate in 1965 from Grace Theological Seminary. In 1969 he was honored as Faculty Member of the Year at Cedarvillc. Dr. Lawlor has authored several books, including a commentary on the book of Jude. THE BEATITUDES ARE FOR TODAY, and ALMAH. Presently, Dr. Lawlor, though in semi-retirement, enjoys teaching Elementary Greek at Ccdarville College and the Xenia Bible Institute. In view of his accomplishments and influences upon many students, we, the Miracle Staff have chosen to honor him by dedicating the 1975 MIRACLE to Dr. George L. Lawlor. “Thou, therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that thou hast heard from among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men. who shall be able to teach others also. II Timothy 2:1-2 II ✓
