I Cedarvillo College's depart- front of scionco was originally locatod in tho rooms now oc- cupied by Prof. Stoolo and Prof. Ault. In 1909. the par- titior in tho second-story room was romovod to provide a combination laboratory ond recitation room. Here the sci- ence dopartmont had its head- quarters until tho fall of 1923. when tho now scionco buildinq was ready for occupancy. Page Thirteen This fine new building, oquippod with completo modern apparatus, has boon tho delight of the instructors and as- piring young scientists. Tho basement and first floor contain tho chemistry and physics laboratories ond class rooms. On the second floor aro located the botany and zoology laboratories and classrooms. This year has seen the addition of on adequate library devoted to tho intor- ests of the department of education.

When tho main building was erected in 1895. space was provided for a department of physico! education. A gymna- sium. furnishod with complete apparatus, was opened in 1896 in the basement of the main building. All studonts had froo access to this gymnasium and college authorities promptly chocked ony tendency to bru- tality and oxcoss in athletic contosts. In 1902. Mr. W. J. Alford prosonted tho trustees with the church building and grounds latoly vacatod bv the Reformed Prcsbytorian Congregation, and dosired that it bo usod as a gymnasium. Ac- cordingly it was equippod with comploto apparatus for physical education and in- door athletics. Adoquato kitchen and dininq room facilities woro also pro- vided so that Alford Momorial today rondors a very fine service to Cedarvillo community. Pago Fifteen
