November 8. l935, The band made iTs TirsT appearance aT The annual caTeTeria supper, The proceeds oT which were used Tor The band uni- Torms. Wayne Andrew, our handsome drum major, has a special uniTorm, baTon, and The carriage oT a pro- fessional. AT baslceTball games he led The group Through The various TormaTions oT school leTTers. This group was The guesT band aT Ross T-ligh School's home-coming and aT The Greene CounTy TournamenT. The excellence of The band has conTribuTed greaTly To The repuTaTion of Cedarville as a progressive school. School spiriT has been greaTly pro- moTed by This organizaTion's appear- ance aT baslceTball games, and This group deserves much crediT Tor iTs eTTorTs and co-operaTion. L. F. ORCHESTRA Playing aT all school TuncTions and playing by inviTaTion in oTher Towns, calls aTTenTion To This year's Cedar- ville school orchesTra under The ca- pable direcTion oT Mr. RoberT Reed who organized iT in I933. The Three years' growTh, which has resulTed in The presenT TorTy-piece organizaTion, has been largely due To The ToundaTion oT a special school Tund Tor The purchase OT new music and insTrumenTs. Including The upper six grades. The orchesTra has The special aim of developmenT oT individual TalenT Through group cooperaTion. ForTy minuTes Twice a week, This group meeTs Tor pracTice oT Their wide va- rieTy of music ranging Trom The seri- ous To The lighT. T Mr. Reed has organized a dance orchesTra which is planning To play aT Bryan High School Tor The Senior Prom in exchange Tor The music Their school furnished Tor our high school dance. Mr. Lowry, who has been manager oT bus TransporTaTion Tor TourTeen years, has working wiTh him six col- lege men who have The responsibiliTy oT TransporTing These boys and girls To and Trom school. l-laTs oTT To These seven men who did Their work so splendidly during This pasT severe winTer wiThouT an accidenT, making an unsurpassable record oT TourTeen years oi bus TransporTaTion wiThouT an accidenT. These bus drivers are always will- ing To cooperaTe wiTh The school and drive Tor special Trips such as Taking The band To The TournamenT, The baskeTball Teams Tor ouT-oT-Town games, The F. F. A. boys To Cincin- naTi, and oTher high school classes on various Tours. F. R. SAFETY PATROL SYSTEM To lessen The chance Tor accidenTs To pupils The SaTeTy PaTrol SysTem began TuncTioning lasT auTumn under The direcTion oT Mr. FursT and The STaTe l-lighway PaTrol. The paTrol is composed OT seven- Teen boys, divided inTo Two groups, one To handle TraTTic in The village before and aTTer school. and The oTher To proTecT The children in The school buses. Two boys are selecTed each week Tor bus service and Tour are selecTed Tor duTy in The village. To become an oTTicer oT The SaTeTy PaTrol SysTem The boys musT Take an examinaTion prepared by The High- way PaTrol. This paTrol has been oT greaT value To The school This year in ThaT iT has eliminaTed possibiliTies oT TraTTic accidenTs when school is dismissed aT noon and evenings.
