N After nlne months we took on a new name Sophomores For some strange reason some of us were reluctant to leave Freshman algebra One of the most excutlng events was the funeral held for Rockmart Gallons of tears were wept by the mourners of the deceased and the enthuslasm whlch swept over the school resulted un a score of 32 32 Purks Jumor Hugh was completed and the Junlor Senior Dance took place In tts modern cafeteria The days rushed by and we became Jolly Jun lors wlth all the rtghts and privileges whlch were few and far between The new gym was our prlde and toy and It was wonderful not to lump mud holes to get to the lunchroom Several of our gurls went to Mulledgevllle to vlslt G S C W Jack Shuler became our band director and we sent our snappy band to the governors nnauguratlon and also to the Peanut Bowl where we competed with some of the best bands un the state Of course we came through wtth flymg colors lt doesnt seem possuble but nts true We really are SENIORSI Mr Thomas sand so We are amazed bewrldered excited and scared There are so many thmgs to worry about that shorthand for Instance Suppose we dont graduate nts enough to drive you crazy If you let It worry you' We refuse to entertaun the thoughts of such a calam :ty We order our class rlngs early and fund that three votes can determnne the kind Much to our sorrow we lose our beloved coaches Dave Ovt GW and Ben Boulware Uncle beckoned and they went When we saw our two new coaches we were thrilled to death It dudnt take us long to dtscover flaws un them however wedding bands I heard that Becky Lentz fell unto a mud puddle as she trued to wave a frlendly greeting to one of them CLASS HISTORY Continued Well never forget the centennial celebratnon of our county Our school contrnbuted enghty of our most talented students to the cast of the drarnatzc spectacle Centurama We all looked luke mod ern Robin Hoods In our centennual hats and some of the Fellows of the Fuzz and Brothers of the Brush were froghtenlng to behold The Evalu atlve Crlterla made us take stock of ourselves and our school The clean up campalgn sponsored by the Trl Hn Y turned the school up sxde down and In side out Strange rumors of Items found an the cleanmg spread over the school pungent odors of palnt dusunfectant and polish fulled the air and tlred students and teachers put the fnntshtng touches on the dear old Alma Mater When the Crlterla came we were ready believe rt or not' We were thrtlled when the commlttee gave us such a good report and realuzed that It ns a good thing to stop and take stock sometlmes The great est thrlll thus far was the wonderful vuctory over Rockmart at the Thanksgnvung game We won the John Veal trophy for thus brlllnant vnctory and hope to keep ut In Cedartown for several years Other highlights of the year Include our speeches for Democracy preparations for a spectacular Christmas program featuring the two Glee Clubs and plenty of good work outs for basketball season and the band concert It makes us sad to thunk of leaving CHS a school that we have put much unto and taken much from We are reluctant to leave our be loved teachers and classmates As we go we reach out with trusting hands hoplng that the future will be as wonderful as the past BETTY JAN E ESTES Historian t Q 1 yfl 1 gl . , . . - - 11 11 - , . , ,' A . - 11 11 11 1 . . ,, . . , . . . . . - 1 - . - I . . - I . - 11 1 ' - 1 . ,, . . . . .
