BACK ROW: Linda Barstow, Al Puchala, Saul Honinberg, Mark Box, Richard Mat- thews. 2-1977 Clarke County Teach- er of the Year-Dr. Payne. 3-Miss Black Athens-Marion Howard 4- Mark Frost won a trip to Germany last summer on the basis of his National German Exam score in February of 1976, an interview, let- ter of recommendation, and an essay about Germany. Seventy such awards are given to students in the nation each year. 5-Vivian Alexander re- ceived the D.A.R. Good Citizen Award- 6-Cedar Shoals seniors did well in the Junior Miss Competition this year. HONORS The Mirari salutes those who have met the challenge and have been singled out for special honors. They excelled scholastically, spent seemingly endless hours rehearsing in the band, choral, and drama rooms, endured the long athletic practices, and perfected skills By trying again and again. Whatever their accomplishments, have been, they have brought distinction to themselves and their school . They reflect what can be achieved a Cedar Shoals by working toward high goals in various activities. l-Max Steuer was chosen as the 1977 Cedar Shoals Star Student. He received the highest SAT score and is in the top 10% of the Senior Class. Max chose Dr. Ward as his Star Teacher on the basis of having made the most out- standing contribution to his scholastic development. 2-l lational Merit Semi- Finalists and Commended Students- (L-R) FRONT ROW: Beth LaRocca, Robin Weiner, Hope Golembiewski, Phil Morris. He was selected for many awards and honors: Vice President of County 4-H Council, Reporter of County 4-H Coun- cil, President of the Cedar Shoa|s Senior Club, Vice President of North District, member of the State Board of Directors, State Winner in the Beef Project, and escort to represent Georgia 4-H at National 4-H Congress.
