ROW 4 (L-R)-Dennis Richardson. ROTC For those of you who don ' t know what ROTC stands for, it ' s Reserve Officers Training Corps. The main purpose of the ROTC program is to teach the cadets to take on responsibilities and most important of all, how to get along with people and have respect for authority. This year the battalion was run completely by the staff and company com- manders, which consisted of four-year students. During the Christmas holdiays, the cadets marched in the Athens Christmas parade and participated in the Empty Stocking Fund paper sale. Funds from the paper drive provided food and toys for families who otherwise might not have had a Christmas. Company-A. First Platoon: ROW 1 (L-R)-David McGuire, Ed Bradfor. Chess Club The Chess Club, now in its 4th year, is a group of students who have organized a school chess tournament and put together a team to represent Cedar Shoals in other school tournaments. Each year the club ' s best player is honored by having his name engraved on the school ' s chess trophy. The mem- bers consist of John Entrekin, Thomas Cook, Tommy Aaron, Mike Morris, Mark Frost, Dan Mckillip, Mike Thomas, Mike Louge, and Saul Honi- berg. Powerline Powerline is a Christian Fellowship Organization which met four mornings a week before first period, We met for sharing, discussion, and prayer. Our advisors were Miss Logan and Miss Blaylock. Van Shepard from Maranatha led the group on Friday. Members are: Mike Cook, Peter Duttweiler, Celina Good- son, Shirley Linston, Christine Thompson, Beth Larsen, Dede Carter, David Padgett, Debbie Schultz, John Cochrane, Greg Jordan, Eric Schmidt, Lamar Patrick. Ham Radio Club The Ham Radio Club is a small group whose hobby is communication via amateur radio. Members of the club are assested in obtaining or upgrading their Ham Radio license. The meetings of the club are held at least monthly in the homes of the members. This is the 2nd year for the club. The members consist of Richard Powers, Tom Quigley, David Nix, Kevin Reynolds, and Tom Sawyer. Chess-Ham Radio-Powerline 209
